On Monday, August 3, the Festival of New American Musicals presented five songs from Emojiland: The Musical as part of their Musi-Cal series at Rockwell Table & Stage in Los Angeles. Scroll down for shots from the showcase, plus click here for footage!

This new musical tells the original story of emojis living inside a teenager's smartphone, and features a groundbreaking score by Keith Harrison (Million Dollar Quartet, Heathers, American Idol). The book is by Keith and his wife Laura Harrison (Holiday Inn, Ragtime).

The showcase featured the songs "Nobody'll Hold Me Down" sung by Laura as Girl, "Broken" sung by Curt Hansen(Wicked, Girlfriend) as Boy, "Face Like Mine" performed by Matt Sax (Venice, Clay) as Face, "A Thousand More Words" sung by Bridgette Bentley (The Color Purple) as Older Woman, and "Pile of Poo" sung by Sugar Joans (The Voice) as Pile of Poo.

The show had a closed reading in Los Angeles last month, and will undergo workshop development this fall. Casting for the workshop is yet unannounced.
