This week baritone Matthias Goerne wraps up his tenure as the 2018-19 Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence, performing John Adams's The Wound-Dresserled by Jaap van Zweden, March 21, 23, and 26.

In this exclusive interview, Matthias Goerne shares his insights into John Adams's work, reminisces about his past performances as Artist-in-Residence, and reflects on working with Jaap and the Orchestra this season.

This residency gave audience members ten opportunities to hear Mathias Goerne in a range of works including songs by Schubert and Richard Strauss, Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem, a chamber music performance with Philharmonic musicians and Daniil Trifonov (the 2019-20 Artist-in-Residence), and this week's performances of John Adams'sThe Wound-Dresser.
