This version of the classic tale of Cinderella, her wicked step sisters and a glass slipper is an immersive theatre experience, emphasizing audience participation. The Fairy Godmother needs help from the audience because she is out of practice and not at all certain her magic is going to work properly. Cinderella’s slipper is tried on audience members, who are also consulted on various matters pertaining to the story. And of course, this play reveals the timeless message of love prevailing over all adversity as Cinderella and the Prince ultimately live happily ever after. New Adventure's Production of the tale of Cinderella has never been more salacious or delicious. The dancing is superb, as well as the artistry involved in every facet of the production. With the updated scenario created, Cindy's world is smack dab in the middle of World War II. Directed and Choreographed by the incredible Sir Matthew Bourne, and loosely based on his parent's war stories, we are taken to London in the '40s, during the middle of air raids, bombings and destruction. The set design and wardrobe is all very drab in muted black and grey reflecting the tone of the environment. Wickedly creative is the choreography, the sets, the costumes, lighting and sound, not to mention the score by Prokofiev. Cinderella Opus 87 is such a melodious wonderland for a choreographer and his artistic team to work with. There is such power, intensity and magic in this lively piece. In Sir Matthew Bourne's hands, and feet, it is a fabulous, imaginative display of artistry and brilliance.

The weekend before Christmas, The Los Angeles Youth Ballet presented a gorgeous, colorful and professional performance of The Nutcracker at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA. The production was very carefully constructed, with an emphasis on good technique, passion and commitment in performance and lovingly re-created by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Andrea Paris-Gutierrez. It was staged and choreographed optimally for each age group performing. Enchanting might be an adjective to describe the feeling the performers were emitting to the viewers, who's rapt attention was a sign of both enjoyment and endorsement. The Nutcracker Suite was composed by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky, and has long been the favorite balletic composition to be performed during the Christmas Season.

Miami City Ballet has continuously performed The Nutcracker for 28 years. This time around, they have new, exquisite costumes and elaborate sets and graphics, to go along with Tchaikovsky's diverse and timeless Nutcracker Suite score. This particular Nutcracker Ballet, using George Balanchine's choreography, is based upon E.T.A. Hoffman's "The Nutcracker and The Mouse King." Though the story and characters are similar to other versions seen, there are some differences in the plot and characters.

Now playing at the Players Theatre, "Cinderella" is a light-hearted, touching adaptation of the well-known fairy tale.  The show features book and lyrics by Brenda Bell and original music by Michael Sgouros, played by two live percussionists and a trumpet player, creating a delightful mixture of good-hearted humor and tender remembrances.  This Cinderella doesn't wait around for her dreams to come true - she makes them happen.  Of course, she is inspired by a little magic along the way.

Atlanta's nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre presents present Cinderella and Fella, a contemporary musical spin on the Cinderella fairytale. Rosemary Newcott, the Sally G. Tomlinson Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families, directs this family friendly one-act production. Cinderella and Fella will run twice a day on Saturdays and Sundays,  now through April, 2017. Opening night is tonight, March 21, and BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Samuel Goldwyn Films has entered an agreement with Shout! Factory to release the classic Lesley Ann Warren version of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella on home video. Cinderella comes to life in this 50th Anniversary Edition of the most beloved fairy tale of all time, now available on DVD from Shout! Factory. Warren was promoting the release of the DVD at Barnes & Noble yesterday and you can check out photos from inside the special event below!

New York Theatre Ballet's CINDERELLA is a lovely spectacle of dance and magic.

ANNIE, the new production of the Tony Award-winning musical, went into rehearsal today in New York City with its full company. The production begins previews October 3, 2012 and opens November 8, 2012 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). Meet the full cast below!
