They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway -they say there's always magic in the air… And soon, there will surely be some of that Broadway magic gracing the Flat Rock Playhouse Mainstage, "mountain-style", with the return of the State Theatre's 2007 hit, Smokey Joe's Cafe!

Drury Lane Theatre presents Smokey Joe's Cafe, the musical revue celebrating the renowned musical duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Smokey Joe's Cafe is directed and choreographed by internationally-acclaimed director Marcia Milgrom Dodge and runs now through October 23, 2016 at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. Smokey Joe's Cafe-The Songs of Leiber and Stoller opened May 8 at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. The production runs through June 8. Smokey Joe's Cafe-The Songs of Leiber and Stoller transports audiences to the golden age of rock, rhythm and blues this spring at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Director Randy Johnson returns to Arena Stage following the success of A Night with Janis Joplin (which enjoyed two runs at Arena Stage followed by a subsequent run on Broadway) to helm this Grammy Award-winning tribute to legendary songwriting duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, which originally opened on Broadway in 1995 and became the longest running musical revue, topping 2,000 performances. Bursting with hit tunes including 'Hound Dog,' 'Jailhouse Rock,' 'Stand by Me,' 'Love Potion #9' and 'On Broadway,' Smokey Joe's Cafe showcases choreography by Parker Esse (Arena Stage's The Music Man, Oklahoma!) and music direction by Victor Simonson (Center Stage's A Civil War Christmas, Arena Stage's 3 Mo' Divas) and runs April 25-June 8, 2014 in the Fichandler Stage. On February 9, 54 Below will welcome the original company of Broadway's SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE for '54 Sings Smokey Joe's Cafe'. There will be two shows, one at 7 p.m. and one at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $50-$60. The show is described on 54 Below's website as: 'On March 2, 1995, a musical phenomenon opened on Broadway. Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber & Stoller would go on to run 2,036 performances and continue to electrify audiences around the world. '54 Below is delighted to present a one night only reunion featuring members of the original Broadway company of this swingin' hit show, including Adrian Bailey, Brenda Braxton, DeLee Lively, Deb Lyons, Frederick Owens and Darryl Williams (more to be announced!). A musical review, by the very nature of its structure, is usually not of great interest to those theatre-goers who want a story line or an over-riding theme. Someone attends a musical review because there is a tuneful style or type of music that you like or there are some singers performing who you want to hear.

Smokey Joe's Café, the musical theatre review that was nominated for seven Tony awards and ran on Broadway for more than 2,000 performances, will come to the Centenary Stage this month, when the acclaimed New Jersey Youth Theatre brings their high-energy production to the Sitnik Theater of the Lackland Center, July 26-29 in Hackettstown, NJ.
