On this day in 2000, The Lion King,reached its 1,000th performance at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Based on the animated film of the same name,  the show opened on Broadway November 13, 1997 and won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Teacher Ashley Ricart was recently featured on the YouTube series 'MatterHackers Minute' for using 3D printing in the classroom for a variety of subjects, including creating amazing masks for her school's production of The Lion King. Learn more in the video below!

Disney's THE LION KING celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a gala performance at London's Lyceum Theatre on Sunday 18th October 2009. Former cast members along with the show's award-winning creative team gathered with a host of celebrities and friends to celebrate 10 triumphant years in the West End.
