Rinaldo Alessandrini and Concerto Italiano continue their exploration of 17th century Italian motets with a new disc of works by composer Alessandro Stradella (1643-1682), out on Naïve Classiques on June 21, 2024. The album includes Stradella’s Symphonias in D Major and F Major. Except for Stradella’s Exultate in Deo fideles, all of the motets on the album are world premiere recordings.
This summer will see the inaugural StoryFest held at the National Youth Theatre’s RIBA award-winning headquarters in North London. A month-long festival that demonstrates the NYT’s commitment to championing new work from emerging talent, many of whom are alumni of the NYT themselves.
These formerly incarcerated individuals working at an insignificant truck stop sandwich shop, grapple with their pasts and seek to rebuild their lives. Their evolution, and the work of the actors embodying them, invites us to expand our understanding of the potential for personal growth and appreciation for what some might see as “the other.” We are resilient. We are courageous. We are complex and unique. And we are all worthy of freedom.
As much as I fear Clyde would stifle my “five-star-would-recommend” review, I can’t stop myself. Go see this show. It’s got all the perfect ingredients.
