Pardon me a second, but I seem to be noticing stretch marks on my suspension of disbelief. Three nights before the curtain rose on the touring version of MRS. DOUBTFIRE that rolled into Belk Theater, I saw a rather fine production of Twelfth Night across town at Central Piedmont College. Since both of the brief runs include at least one matinee between now and Sunday, my experience of seeing two wives who fail to identify their true husbands can be intensified, compressed into the space eight hours, if you wish, after my relatively relaxed 75-hour exercise.

The Hails have announced that they will be headlining Gainesville, Florida’s infamous High Dive’s last hurrah, All Hail High Dive, before closure. Taking place on May 19, with support still to be announced, the indie five-piece is the perfect example of the musical launch pad High Dive has been for the Florida music scene over the last decade plus. Last week, High Dive’s founder and owner Pat Lavery shared on social media that the venue is coming to a sudden end after their landlord informed them they had 30 days to vacate to make way for the new owner who will redevelop the property.

The title “With YOU-th' references the group's eternal “youth” with “you.” “You” refers to both the unbreakable bond between TWICE's nine members, as well as their relationship with their fans – ONCE – over the last nine years. AEA members voted to authorize a strike against the Broadway League of the development agreement - while this doesn’t mean the union will call a strike, it does give them another bargaining chip in their ongoing negotiations with the League. Regionally, we have a lot of stories of announced retirements and new leaders stepping into roles.

Every once and a while I like to do litigation updates because one of my pet peeves is how the media sometimes reports when a case is filed and then drop it. One such case is Chad Kimball’s lawsuit related to his departure from Come From Away. Another is the one bartenders at Shubert Organization theaters brought against the theater chain and others.

Catya McMullen (pictured), a native New Yorker, now finds herself at home in Los Angeles. While working in film and television, her life-long love of theater inspired her to write plays. The world premiere of Arrowhead is her first being presented here, produced by IAMA at Atwater Village Theatre, directed by Jenna Worsham. I decided to speak with Catya about her journey to writing the play, why she set it in Arrowhead, its themes, and how it speaks to different generations of women about love and sexual identity.
