Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Board of Trustees announced today the award of a three-year, $300,000 challenge grant from The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust. The grant will enable the theater to leverage new and increased support of its productions from major individual supporters.
During the next three seasons at Steppenwolf, The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust will annually match up to $100,000 of all individual production sponsorship gifts, with a particular emphasis on those who increase their contributions or pledge major multi-year production support.

12 Community Participants and three understudies were selected from more than 35 people who auditioned Monday to take part in a one-of-a-kind extended residency project called The Diavolo Project: Nebraska. This creative and collaborative project between the Diavolo Company, Omaha Performing Arts and the Lied Center for Performing Arts engages Nebraska-based performing artists, educators and communities with Diavolo in an exploration of their unique approach to the dynamic art of movement. The auditions, which were open to any Nebraskan with extensive experience and interest in movement, drew dancers, gymnasts, acrobats, athletes and physical
theater artists from across the state.
Strawdog Theatre Company completes their 21st season with Peter Barnes' dark comedy 'Red Noses,' directed by House Theatre's Matt Hawkins. In Barnes' 1985 Olivier Award-winning play, the Black Plague has wiped out half of Europe's 14th century population, so God gives the young priest Father Flote a special mission to save his suffering people ... make 'em laugh. Flote gathers a band of desperately untalented misfits, turns them into clowns and together they search for salvation with hilarity. Hawkins, who also directed House's hit production of 'Hatfield & McCoy,' makes his Strawdog directing debut with a 23-person cast. 'Red Noses' runs about two hours and ten minutes with one intermission, and includes free admittance to Strawdog Late Night following the Friday and Saturday shows (Late Night schedule available at www.strawdog.org).
