On January 10, 2022 Kings Theatre and Greenlight Bookstore will welcome Rev. Al Sharpton to Brooklyn for the launch of his new book, Righteous Troublemakers: Untold Stories in the Social Justice Movement in America. Sharpton will discuss the up-close-and-personal lessons he's learned about the enduring strength of everyday people called to do extraordinary things, and the ongoing work that is necessary in the face of today's national reckoning on race in America.

Ruth Wilson will star in Ivo van Hove’s adaptation of Jean Cocteau’s The Human Voice, which he also directs with design by Jan Versweyveld, originally produced by Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. The production opens at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 22 March, with previews from 17 March, and runs for three weeks only until 9 April.

If you've attended theater in the Bay Area with any degree of regularity over the past few decades, chances are you've seen actress Lorri Holt - a lot! Since the 1980's, Holt has become a veritable local treasure, performing with theater companies large and small across the Bay Area, creating roles in scores of new plays along the way. Among many career highlights, she was part of the fabled Eureka Theatre Company that commissioned Tony Kushner to write Angels in America where Holt originated the role of Harper Pitt. Holt's latest performance, in Who Killed Sylvia Plath? by award-winning playwright Lynne Kaufman, is enjoying a virtual return engagement on MarshStream November 28th and 29th after winning the award for Best Full Length at the recent MarshStream International Solo Fest. The Robey Theatre Company Playwright Series currently has nine play scripts in publication, available in paperback edition and also in Kindle format.

Los Angeles based artist and activist Monique DeBose is inspiring women to choose  “MORE,” with her powerful new single released today. “MORE has always been my personal anthem that I quietly kept in the back of my head for years,” Monique told Black Girl Nerds on her IG Live conversation  with the publication this week  “and now I hope it can be an anthem for  everyone who identifies as female . It’s so important to consciously decide as women what we are choosing MORE of for ourselves so we can band together and support each other to make it happen!”
