Intended initially for a limited run, and turning into a 2+ year hit, Newsies, featuring a score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, will play its final performance at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre onS unday, August 24, 2014 prior to launching its national tour in October. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies is directed by Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, was presented earlier this week in Shubert Alley, between Broadway and 8th Avenue and 44th and 45th Streets. To add to the festivities leading up to the Tony Awards, the free outdoor concert in the heart of the Theatre District celebrated Broadway with star appearances and exciting performances from over 20 new shows and long-running favorites, accompanied by a live 12-piece orchestra.

Rosie O'Donnell, one of Broadway's biggest supporters, went to see the Tony Award-winning smash-hit musical Newsies at the Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St.) this weekend. Following the performance, Ms. O'Donnell went backstage to meet the cast, later tweeting, 'LOVED IT SO MUCH - amazing talent on that stage!' Newsies, the Tony Award® winning "Critics' Pick," is pleased to announce that Jeremy Greenbaum will temporarily join the cast in the role of Davey beginning with this evening's performance and will play the role throughSunday, May 18, 2014. He steps in for Ben Fankhauser, who originated the role. Greenbaum makes his Broadway debut in the hit musical, marking the 29th such debut since Newsies opened on Broadway in 2012.

Disney's NEWSIES to Hold Auditions for Male Dancers in Los Angeles, 2/8

Disney Theatrical Productions will hold an open call audition for male dancers for both the Broadway and upcoming North American touring productions of Newsies, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical smash, in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 8 at 11am at the Hollywood United Methodist Church (6817 Franklin Avenue/Los Angeles, CA 90068). This audition will be first come, first serve and is for technically-trained Equity and non-Equity male dancers between 16 - 22 years old of all ethnicities who can tap and sing well.
