Soho Rep presents the world premiere of multidisciplinary theater-maker, musician, and composer Jillian Walker's The Whitney Album. Walker's ritual performance flows between incantation, love lecture, scene, and song as it considers the labor of performance itself and honors the legacy of Whitney Houston and so many other Black women beloved, and consumed, for their art.

Shakespeare's Globe has appointed Stella Kanu as Chief Executive. Stella brings over 30 years of experience working in the theatre, festival, and cultural sectors, and is currently Executive Director at LIFT (London International Festival of Theatre), leading the strategic strands of the business and executive producing of the biennial-festival.

SHOWTIME and The BBC announced the new six-episode gothic thriller THE WOMAN IN THE WALL, led by BAFTA® Award winner Ruth Wilson (THE AFFAIR, Luther) and co-starring Daryl McCormick (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, Peaky Blinders). Produced by Motive Pictures (an Endeavor Content backed company), Wilson will also executive produce.

The 11-song collection was co-written and produced by Miller’s Hudson Valley, NY neighbor Sam Cohen (Kevin Morby, Sharon Van Etten, Danger Mouse) and continues their musical partnership that began on 2018’s The Messenger. Theatre for a New Audience has announced its 2022-23 season, its 43rd, held at TFANA’s home, Polonsky Shakespeare Center in Brooklyn.

Apple Original Films’ “Luck” features the voice talents of stars Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Eva Noblezada, Simon Pegg, Flula Borg, Colin O’Donoghue, John Ratzenberger and Adelynn Spoon. The 2022 Eurovision Song Contest is taking place in Turin, Italy on May 10, 12 and 14. We point out a few of our 'ones to watch' this year. Whatever your musical taste, you'll find something to entertain, delight and maybe even surprise!

It's time for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest! During the intensive rehearsal period, we asked some of this year’s artists whether, like many theatrical performers, they have any superstitions or pre-performance rituals to calm their nerves or bring them good luck on stage.

Dear Readers, some of you may remember the 1997 animated rendition of “Anastasia” that the current musical production at the Paramount is based on … loosely. We still have most of those lovely Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty songs from the animated version and the story is still about a young girl discovering that she is the lost Romanov daughter and trying to make her way to Paris to reunite with her grandmother. But don’t expect to see the magical immortal Rasputin as the villain or a wise cracking bat for comic relief. However, if you really wanted that animated version on stage, you may be in luck as many of the performances last night were inexplicably cartoonish in a show with a few memorable songs but a convoluted story that made little sense if you pay attention to it.

Eva Noblezada (“Hadestown,” “Miss Saigon,” “Yellow Rose”) leads the cast as “Sam.' other voices in the cast include Jane Fonda, Flula Borg, Lil Rel Howery, Colin O'Donoghue, John Ratzenberger, Adelynn Spoon, and Whoopi Goldberg.

 Ars Nova has announced 17 new artists and groups selected in 2022 for residencies and commissions at Ars Nova. The Company’s dynamic slate of artist residencies and commissions supports outside-the-box thinking and encourages innovative, genre-bending work.

Contestants include Jake Shears (The Scissor Sisters), Sam Pancake (A Million Little Things), Kim Chi (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and Detox (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Lina Bradford (DJ Lina), Mark Anthony Samuel (General Hospital) and Jake DuPree, and Jackie Cox. Plus, watch the new trailer!

Hadestown, the 2019 Tony Award-winning Best Musical, officially opened its North American Tour on October 15, at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Kicking off at the Peace Center in Greenville, SC, the tour will visit over 30 cities in its first year. Check out all the reviews...

Hudson Theatre Works will open on October 7th with Bunnies by New Jersey Playwright, Joanne Hoersch.  Bunnies tells the story of five Playboy Bunnies, who n 1973, at the New York Playboy Club, find themselves uplifted by the rise of feminism, haunted by the GoodBar murder and conflicted about their jobs as sex symbols, while they bond in humor and compassion over the course of one evening. 

Kimmel Cultural Campus has announced the much-anticipated return of in-person performing arts across their venues: the Kimmel Center, the Academy of Music, and the Merriam Theater. On September 18, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Kimmel Cultural Campus will host a grand reopening event in Commonwealth Plaza to celebrate the start of the 2021-22 season.

Barry, Gavin, Norman, Craig and Wes find themselves down on their luck outside the pub on Saturday night. What starts as a drunken joke, rapidly becomes a challenge they can't back out of... an all-male strip show.
