Damn Yankees is headed to The 5th Avenue Theatre! The Paper Mill Playhouse production will slide into Seattle this April. The creative team includes direction by Mark S. Producer Daryl Roth revealed in a newsletter that the production would include the talents of Broadway veterans Stark Sands and Billy Porter. The musical features music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. Tony-winner Jerry Mtchell will both direct and choreograph the production. According to the Chicago Tribune, the production might make a stop in Chicago before landing on Broadway. A spokesperson for Broadway in Chicago revealed that the show is looking into playing the Windy City for its out-of-town tryout, before opening on Broadway in the 2012-13 season.

A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) will present The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, opening the A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 117 at the Loeb Drama Center. The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, is adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray, and directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus.

As previously reported, Cyndi Lauper is writing the music and lyrics for KINKY BOOTS - The Musical, with a book by Harvey Fierstein, and Jerry Mitchell as director/choreographer. Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig are on board as producers and Stephen Oremus will be the musical supervisor.
