Broadway/L.A. has announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony Award®-winning creator, composer-lyricist and original star of Broadway's 2008's Best Musical IN THE HEIGHTS will reprise the lead role of ‘Usnavi' when the show has its Southern California premiere engagement at the historic Pantages Theater in Los Angeles from June 22nd through July 11th. The gala opening night is Wednesday, June 23rd, following one lower-priced preview on Tuesday, June 22nd.

Broadway legend and Tony winner Patti LuPone will bring her triumphant one-woman Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda to McCarter Theatre on Saturday, May 8. The evening is a high-spirited tour of songs and roles that she 'could have played, should have played, did play and will play' with selections from Hair, Bye Bye Birdie, Funny Girl, West Side Story, Peter Pan, Evita, Anything Goes, and more.

The production stars acclaimed, award-winning actor, Jack Stehlin. The production opens Saturday, May 15 at Circus Theatricals at the Hayworth.

On Monday, May 3rd, Broadway legend Bernadette Peters hosted a performance and book signing for her latest publication, Stella is a Star. The event took place at Dylan's Candy Bar from 3-5PM. Guests also participated in a live raffle drawing for which the winner was awarded the chance to appear onstage with Bernadette Peters & Mary Tyler Moore at this year's Broadway Barks on Saturday, July 10th in Shubert Alley. As previously reported, Broadway star, Tony, Grammy and Golden Globe Award winner, Bernadette Peters will pen a second children's book, Stella is a Star, set for publishing and release this spring by Blue Apple Books. The book, inspired by Peters' dog Stella, will feature illustrations by Liz Murphy. Proceeds will go to Broadway Barks, the charitable organization co-founded by Peters and Mary Tyler Moore over over 10 year ago in support of animal shelters.
Rehearsals begin today, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26.

The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. Paul Gemignani, Mr. Sondheim's longtime collaborator, will conduct the New York Philharmonic; Lonny Price is the director; and Mr. Price and Matt Cowart are the producers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, former stage mother-daughter duo, Patti LuPone and Laura Benanti, may get a round two. Like thier Gypsy counterparts, LuPone has reportedly signed on to star as Benanti's tough-loving mother in the new CBS pilot, Open Books, to which Benanti has been long attached.
