After making history as the first black woman to play Christine Daaé in the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, Emilie Kouatchou sat down with Sheinelle Jones on The TODAY Show to discuss her groundbreaking debut. Jones also sat down with casting associate Joseph Hayes to discuss the importance of diversity and representation on Broadway.

The Pre-Broadway World Premiere of The Last Ship, the new musical with music and lyrics by 16-time Grammy Award winner Sting, and book by Tony winner John Logan and Pulitzer Prize-winner Brian Yorkey, opens tonight at the Bank of America Theatre (18 W Monroe) and plays through July 13, 2014. The Last Ship is directed by Tony winner Joe Mantello and has choreography by Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee Steven Hoggett. The Last Ship will begin previews on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W. 52 St.) on September 29 prior to opening night on October 26, 2014. BroadwayWorld's own James Sims recently joined actors Judy Kaye, David Hess, Lauren Molina and Edmund Bagnell in the Ahmanson lobby to discover their own visions of Sweeney Todd and understand why Sondheim's work continues to remain popular nearly 30 years since first bowing on Broadway.

The national touring production of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, will begin performances at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles beginning with one preview on March 11 at 8 p.m. and is set to run through April 6.
