Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and the Barbican Theatre have today announced that, following its overwhelming sell-out success in 2019 at the Open Air Theatre, Evita transfers to the Barbican Theatre for just 8 weeks in summer 2020 (27 June a?" 22 August). Reinvented by director Jamie Lloyd, his transformative production was seen by over 75,000 people at the Open Air Theatre, becoming the theatre's highest grossing production ever.

Joining the previously announced Lydia Wilson are Khalid Abdalla, Hadassah Allen, Leo Bill, Jersey Blu Georgia, Ioanna Kimbook, Michael Marcus, Ciarán Owens, Shalini Peiris, Jack Riddiford, Jethro Skinner and Kalungi Ssebandeke.

In a programme note, Meet Me At Dawn's writer Zinnie Harris explains that the work engages with the life-defining moment in the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice when the former looks back and seals his lover's fate to remain in the underworld. This look, rightly pointed out as difficult to stage because of its fleetingness, occupies the entirety of Harris' play, allowing the two figures to converse, laugh and, most importantly, say goodbye.

The Almeida Theatre announces Associate Director Rebecca Frecknall's new production of John Webster's revenge tragedy The Duchess of Malfi, with Lydia Wilson in the title role.

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre have today announced their 2020 season which opens with their first newly commissioned musical, 101 Dalmatians (16 May a?' 21 June), based on Dodie Smith's iconic story set in the heart of Regent's Park with book by Zinnie Harris and music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge. The production is directed by Timothy Sheader, with puppetry designed and directed by Toby Olié. Also confirmed are Katrina Lindsay (Set and Costume Designer), Liam Steel (Choreographer), Sarah Travis (Musical Supervisor and Orchestrator), Howard Hudson (Lighting Designer) and Tarek Merchant (Musical Director). Casting is by Jill Green, with children's casting by Verity Naughton.

The centrepiece of Tron Theatre's Autumn season will be Gary McNair's adaptation of Ben Jonson's Jacobean farce, The Alchemist, presented by Tron Theatre Company. Re-written in rhyming couplets and re-located from London to Glasgow, this new commission for the theatre promises to be a brilliantly comic caper.

Arcola Theatre today announces its Autumn 2019 season: seven shows that explore the power of truth and imagination in troubled times. The Citizens Theatre has announced a new season of work by women writers that will put women centre stage.
