The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced the nominations for the 33rd Annual Gotham Awards, singling out 20 feature films, 11 series, and 30 performances in ten award categories. The nominations were announced live from Cipriani Wall Street by Jeffrey Sharp, award-winning film producer and the Executive Director of The Gotham.

A new coalition of artists, Black Theatre United, has been announced to influence widespread reform and combat systemic racism within the theatre industry and throughout the nation.

Nutley Little Theatre debuts the first show of the all- volunteer organization's 85th season with the opening of Significant Other, by Joshua Harmon, on September 13th in a performance benefitting Buddies of NJ, Inc.

Peak Performances kicks off its 2018-19 season with the world premiere of Hatuey: Memory of Fire, a rousing Afro-Cuban-Yiddish opera performed in English, Yiddish and Spanish, with music by Frank London, libretto by Elise Thoron, direction by Mary Birnbaum, and choreography by Maija Garcia.
