Rattlestick Playwrights' TheaterJam Set for Tonight

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater presents its fourth annual TheaterJam, a one-day festival featuring the work of many of the company's favorite playwrights, actors and directors. The brainchild of playwright Dael Orlandersmith, the all-day event will take place at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South between West 11th & Perry Streets) tonight, June 2nd.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater presents its fourth annual TheaterJam, a one-day festival featuring the work of many of the company's favorite playwrights, actors and directors. The brainchild of playwright Dael Orlandersmith, the all-day event will take place at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South between West 11th & Perry Streets) on Sunday, June 2nd. Doors will open at 1:30pm. There is a $10 suggested admission charge (cash only) for all day entry - and includes one free beer. There will be a raffle drawing for amazing prizes. Patrons are free to come and go as they please and attend any - or all-of the festival's many offerings. All proceeds will benefit Rattlestick's upcoming 2013-14 season.

Due to popular demand, The Pearl Theatre Company extends This Side of Neverland, a duo of one-act plays by J. M. Barrie, to May 26. This Side of Neverland features J. M. Barrie's Rosalind and The Twelve Pound Look with direction by Artistic Director J. R. Sullivan.The New York Times says, "How refreshing it is to be reminded of this feminist battle cry not by a straight-out-of-central-casting cliche but by an early-20th-century nobleman whom we usually associate with boyish fantasies." while Time Out New York says, "Barrie's still-fresh 1914 twosome...makes heroes of self-willed, single, middle-aged women. That's better than pirates any day.' And Michael Giltz inThe Huffington Post says, "The Pearl Theatre Company proves again with this diverting entertainment why all theater buffs and casual fans should take a trip to their ideal new home."

On hiatus from the AMC smash hit Mad Men, Vincent Kartheiser comes to the Bay Area to lead a vibrant cast in San Jose Rep's world premiere of the Jonathan Marc Feldman drama The Death of the Novel, directed by Rick Lombardo.The cast also includes Vaishnavi Sharma (Sheba), Patrick Jones, Zarah Mahler and Amy Pietz. AQUILA THEATRE (Peter Meineck, Artistic Director) continues their season with Homer's Iliad: Book One. Previews began March 31st, and performances continue through April 25th. Opening Night is April 16th. Directed by Peter Meineck, Iliad: Book One will have original music by Anthony Cochrane and movement by Desiree Sanchez.
