Rehearsals now underway for the new Broadway production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary seven-time Tony Award-winning musical, EVITA,.The musical stars Olivier Award-winning Argentinean actress Elena Roger making her Broadway debut as Eva Peron, world renowned music artist Ricky Martin as Che and Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Peron. The cast will also feature Christina DeCicco as the alternate for Eva Peron (Weds eve; Sat mat), Max von Essen as Magaldi and Rachel Potter as the Mistress. Directed by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Michael Grandage and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford, EVITA begins previews on March 12 and Opening Night is set for April 5, 2012. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's landmark musical EVITA opens April 5, 2012 at the Marquis Theatre. Previews begin Monday, March 12, 2012. Joining the previously announced stars of EVITA - world renowned music artist Ricky Martin as Che, Olivier Award-winning Argentinean actress Elena Roger in her Broadway debut as Eva Perón and Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón - are Max von Essen as Magaldi, Rachel Potter as the Mistress, and Christina DeCicco as the alternate/standby for Eva Perón. Christina DeCicco Signs on as 'Eva' Alternate in EVITA

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary seven-time Tony Award-winning musical, EVITA, will feature Christina DeCicco (Glinda in Wicked, Sister Act) as the 'Eva Peron' alternate when the show opens this Spring n Broadway. DeCicco will play 'Eva' on Wednesday evening and Saturday matinee performances- with the exception of Wed. March 14 and Wed. April 4, when Elena Roger will play both matinee and evening performances.

According to published reports Broadway-bound Ricky Martin, who will soon star as Che in EVITA, has topped the list of Most-Googled Gays & Lesbians in 2011. Also making the list were Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Zachary Quinto, Elton John, and Adam Lambert.

Timothy Shew, veteran of seven Broadway shows, including the lead role in the original Broadway production of Les Misérables, will sacrifice a full head of hair to benefit The Upper Valley Haven and Toys for Tots, in preparation for his role as Daddy Warbucks in the upcoming Northern Stage production of Annie. The event will include a musical performance by the Annie orphans.
