A Midsummer Night's Dream, William Shakespeare's popular story of illusive and abiding love, opened Saturday to cheers and a robust crowd at Harlem's Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park. The show, produced by the Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) (Producing Artistic Director, Ty Jones), is directed by CTH Artistic Associate and Oberlin College Professor of Theater and Africana Studies Justin Emeka and runs Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:30 pm through July 20. Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announces the 2012 Wolf Trap Ball, the organization's largest annual fundraising event, set to commence tonight, September 15 on the Filene Center stage at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. This year's special event celebrates Terre Jones, Wolf Trap President and CEO, who throughout his tenure has positioned the organization as a premier center for the integration of performing arts, education, technology, and environmental sustainability. Jones will retire in December, following 17 years of service leading the not for profit arts and education organization.

In honor of its upcoming 1,000th performance, Disney's THE LION KING at Mandalay Bay awarded Walter V. Long Elementary School 1,000 tickets at a surprise in-school assembly today with a heartwarming performance by LION KING cast members. Students from more than 80 Clark County elementary schools submitted essays on why their school deserves to see THE LION KING before the show's final performance on Dec. 30, and the winning essay came from Walter V. Long's Daniel Hernandez in Danielle Rayos' fifth grade class.
