Project Shaw recently presented Bernard Shaw's The Philanderer directed by J.R. Sullivan and starring Kerstin Anderson (currently My Fair Lady - Eliza understudy), Dan Butler (Broadway: Travesties, Twentieth Century, Biloxi Blues; Off-Broadway: The Only Thing Worse You Could Have Told Me, The Irish Curse, Old Money, The Lisbon Traviata, Much Ado About Nothing, The Widow Claire), Caitlin Cohn (title role in Lolita My Love - York Theater), Tim Jerome (Broadway: The Phantom of the Opera, The Lyons, Tarzan, La Boheme, Grand Hotel, Me and My Girl), Amelia Pedlow(The Metromaniacs, Tis Pity She's a Whore - Red Bull Theater, The Liar, The Heir Apparent - Classic Stage Company), A.J. Encompass New Opera Theatre will present the World Premiere of Anna Christie with music by Edward Thomas, set to a libretto by Joseph Masteroff, with 12 performances beginning today, October 4, 2018 at 8pm and running through Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (at 55 Lexington Avenue, entrance on 25th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues) in Manhattan.

Are subways really for sleeping? The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, has announced the cast of the 1961 Broadway musical Subways Are for Sleeping with music by Jule Styne and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the final show in the Winter 2018 Musicals in Mufti Series celebrating the work of the legendary composer Jule Styne. Performances are set to begin Saturday afternoon, February 24, 2018 for 11 performances only through Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Sunday evening, February 25, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

With a name like BAR MITZVAH BOY, it should be no surprise that the current musical at the York is a coming of age story. What is surprising is that the composer of this intimate piece is Jule Styne, better known for brassy star vehicles like GYPSY and FUNNY GIRL.
