A superb production of 'The Alchemist' is now onstage at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey through August 31st. Written by Ben Jonson and adapted by Bonnie Monte, this rarely produced show is a completely entertaining comical farce about greed and deception.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents Ben Jonson's The Alchemist, a rowdy tale of con artists and their gullible prey. This production marks the premiere of Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte's new adaptation of the 17th century work. Performances begin August 6 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison. Tickets start at $25 for all preview performances. All regular performances offer tickets starting at $32. Student rush tickets for all performances are $15, available a half-hour before curtain for with a valid student ID. The Muny presents the fourth show of its 96th season, The Addams Family, directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge, choreographed by Vince Pesce, with musical direction by Ben Whiteley. The show begins tonight, July 14 and runs through July 20, 2014.

Paper Mill Playhouse continues its 75th Anniversary Season with another new musical The Other Josh Cohen. The Other Josh Cohen features a book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen. Ted Sperling (Striking 12, See What I Wanna See) will direct with musical staging by Andrew Palermo. Vadim Feichtner serves as Music Director. The Other Josh Cohen will feature Steve Rosen, David Rossmer, Hannah Elless, Vadim Feichtner, Cathryn Salamone, Ken Triwush and Kate Wetherhead. The Other Josh Cohen will play the Millburn, New Jersey theater through March 16. The show officially opened last night, Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 7:00pm. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey announced today it was extending the run of its critically acclaimed comedy Tovarich through September 1st. Added performances of this long-forgotten treasure, by French playwright Jacques Deval and adapted by the American author Robert E. Sherwood, are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 29th, 30th and 31st at 8 p.m.; and Saturday August 31st and Sunday, September 1st at 2 p.m.

Margarita and Max, a new play by Manuel Igrejas, will star Kim McKean and Craig Fox at the Midtown International Theater Festival, directed by David Hilder. The show runs for three performances: today, July 23rd, Saturday, July 27th and Sunday, July 28th, at the Dorothy Strelsin Theater, 312 West 36th St.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Popjam Productions present the North American premiere of MOTHER, WIFE AND THE COMPLICATED LIFE - a musical comedy that tells the truth about marriage and motherhood - with book and lyrics by Australian singer, songwriter and reality TV star Amity Dry, music by Amity Dry and Mark Simeon Ferguson and directed by Hilary Adams. Yesterday, 106.7 Lite FM presented the return of its much-anticipated, annual lunchtime theatre summer series, '106.7 Lite FM's Broadway in Bryant Park.' The 2013 program will present the best of Broadway, FREE to the public, on six consecutive Thursdays beginning July 11 at 12:30 p.m. on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by Lite FM's on-air personalities, the 13thannual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through August 15. Vital Theatre Company and Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School had a ribbon cutting ceremony by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz for the newly renovated South Shore Auditorium on May 2nd.
