Public Theater Features AMERINDA's THIEVES, 8/3-14

The Public Theater will host the American Indian Artists Inc. (AMERINDA) production of THIEVES, written by William S. YellowRobe, Jr. (Assiniboine) and directed by AMERINDA Theater Artistic Director Steve Elm (Oneida). Making its world premiere, THIEVES will run at The Public Theater from Wednesday, August 3 through Sunday, August 14. All tickets for this AMERINDA production are $15.

Following fifteen sold out shows, The Laurie Beechman Theatre will continue their hit series, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED, for a sixteenth installment, Monday, July 25 at 7pm. In this special addition to the series, we'll be celebrating our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, having begun this journey of celebrating Sondheim in July of 2010.

George Lee Andrews Joins Sondheim Unplugged, 5/23

Sondheim Unplugged announces that Broadway Veteran GEORGE LEE ANDREWS, who created the role of Frid in A Little Night Music, has joined the company of our Monday, May 23 performance. Mr. Andrews is in the Guinness Book of World Records as 'the longest-running actor in the same Broadway show,' on behalf of his 23-year run in The Phantom of the Opera.

Following thirteen sold out shows, The Laurie Beechman Theatre will continue their hit series, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED, for a fourteenth installment, Monday, May 23 at 7pm. Included in the cast are an array of Broadway and cabaret alums, including Eric Michael Gillett (The Frogs, Kiss Me, Kate, Sweet Smell of Success), Jana Robbins (Mazeppa in the 1989 revival of Gypsy), and Lucia Spina (B'way's Legally Blonde, South Pacific). We're also pleased to welcome three very special guests, each of whom created roles in Sondheim musicals: Crista Moore (Louise in the 1989 Broadway revival of Gypsy), Teri Ralson (Company's original Jenny and Mrs. Nordstrom in the original A Little Night Music) and Sarah Rice(Sweeney Todd's original Johanna). Recently, Sondheim Unplugged received the 2011 Bistro Award for Outstanding Cabaret Series, and was nominated for the 2011 MAC Award.

TALES OF AN URBAN INDIAN To Host Post Show Discussions

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) will present post-show discussions following every Tuesday evening performance of TALES OF AN URBAN INDIAN, the second play of the 2008-2009 Public LAB season. The Public LAB Speaker Series, held every Tuesday following Public LAB shows, will consist of engaging conversations with the artists and notable panelists.
