Lincoln Center Theater production of Jon Robin Baitz' OTHER DESERT CITIES, directed by Joe Mantello, opened last night, (January 13) at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Tom Viertel, Chairman of the Board of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, has announced that Stephen Sondheim will present Harold Prince with the organization's Monte Cristo Award at a gala benefit on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Bridgewaters. The Award, given annually in recognition of a distinguished career exemplifying Eugene O'Neill's pioneering spirit and standard of excellence, has previously been presented to Kevin Spacey, Neil Simon, Jason Robards, Jr., Edward Albee, August Wilson, Zoe Caldwell, Brian Dennehy, Karl Malden, Arthur and Barbara Gelb, and Wendy Wasserstein.

On Monday, April 6, Linda Lavin returned to the Broadway at Birdland stage with a new show, along with musical director/singer Billy Stritch, Steve Doyle on bass, and Steve Bakunas on drums. The show, 'Moments Like This' is a new show that gave the sold-out Birdland audience a chance to meet the Broadway and television star up-close and personal as she recalled her roots in the theater, her love of torch songs, and a life-long obsession with the big bands of the 1940's.
