In Mahler's mighty 'Resurrection' symphony, he dramatically addresses life-and-death issues as only he could-'one is battered to the ground and then raised on angels' wings to the highest heights.' CSO Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni opens the 2013-14 season by leading the Columbus Symphony Chorus, featured guest vocalists Dominique Labelle (soprano) and Sasha Cooke (mezzo-soprano), and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, including an off-stage brass ensemble echoing the last judgement from another world. This will also be the official debut of Jean-Sebastien Roy as the CSO's new concertmaster.

The critically heralded all-male Shakespeare's Globe repertory productions of Twelfth Nightand Richard III will come to Broadway this fall. The productions, which delighted audiences and broke all box office records in London's West End earlier this year, will open Sunday, November 10 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street), with previews beginning October 15. Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the roster for Lincoln Center's fourth multidisciplinary White Light Festival, October 24 through November 23, 2013. The Festival's focus is music's capacity to illuminate the many dimensions of our interior lives, with a particular emphasis this year on the power of the voice. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 23 performances, films, and events featuring seven premieres and debuts by artists and companies from more than a dozen countries, including France, India, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the U.K., Mali, Estonia, Italy, Austria, Canada and the U.S. New to this edition of the Festival is White Light on Film, film screenings followed by discussions with their directors. Other Festival components include: a panel discussion focused on the subject of time, pre- and post-performance artist discussions, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges.

Gillespie concert organ pair with fleeting violin passages and an orchestral rhapsody during Pacific Symphony's next classical concert, 'Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony,' featuring music by the French Romantics. The program opens with Emmanuel Chabrier's 'España,' the composer's most famous orchestral composition, inspired by Spanish music and dances. Taking place tonight through Saturday, May 2-4 at 8 p.m. in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

The Columbus Symphony and Chorus will open this special program with the world premiere of Of Songs and Singing by the widely acclaimed composer Stephen Paulus, commissioned in honor of and conducted by Ronald Jenkins, director of the Columbus Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus since 1982. CSO Music director Jean-Marie Zeitouni will then take the podium to conduct Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Barber's nostalgic homage to small-town America featuring guest soprano Dominique Labelle, and will add guest baritone Joshua Hopkins for the soul-stirring A German Requiem by Brahms (named after the language in which it is sung) with its profound messages of peace, hope, and consolation.

The University Glee Club of New York City Returns to Carnegie Hall, 1/18

The University Glee Club of New York City, the venerable all-men's choir established over a century ago to encourage male singing of the highest excellence, returns to Carnegie Hall to launch its 120th anniversary on Friday, January 18, at 7 p.m. Conducted by Francisco J. Núñez, the fifth conductor in UGC's history, the concert also features the gorgeously rich sounds of two other esteemed men's choirs, the Harvard Glee Club and the U.S. Naval Academy Men's Glee Club, as well as the Solisti Ensemble, an 11-piece string ensemble.

Giancarlo Guerrero, music director of the Nashville Symphony and principal guest conductor of Cleveland Orchestra Miami, conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in concerts at Severance Hall that open with Igor Stravinsky's Petrouchka (complete ballet music, 1947 revision). After intermission, Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster William Preucil is soloist in the world premiere performances of Stephen Paulus's Violin Concerto No. 3. The concerto was commissioned by The Cleveland Orchestra with the generous support of Linda and Jack Hoeschler and Peter and Mary Dahlen. The program concludes with Maurice Ravel's Rhapsodie espagnole.

This summer marks the 52nd annual Summer Sing Program. Each summer, the New York Choral Society produces a Summer Sings series that features the most popular masterworks of the choral literature. Taking place every Wednesday at 7:30pm from tonight, July 25th - August 29th at Symphony Space in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, New York, six prominent choral conductors from the New York area will lead audience members to sing through these popular works. Scores are provided by the New York Choral Society.

Nashville Symphony Awarded Three Grants

Nashville Symphony has been awarded grants from the Metro Nashville Arts Commission, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. These funds will be used to sustain its commitment to enriching the community through music and arts education and to commissioning and recording new American repertoire.
