Over 400 leaders in the advertising and market industries will join GLAAD for the 2011 Amplifier Awards to honor the best in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) inclusive advertising. The silent auction/cocktail reception, Awards presentation and after party are presented by Omnicom Group and in part by DRAFTFCB and ROKK Vodka. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at The Altman Building in New York City.

Last night, June 29, Cirque du Soleil opened its major new acrobatic spectacle, Zarkana, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Performances began Thursday, June 9, 2011 for a limited engagement through October 8, 2011. Presented by iShares, Zarkana is written and directed by acclaimed film and theatre director François Girard (The Red Violin, Silk). Over fifteen Broadway and National Tour performers will join notable personalities on Monday, June 27, 2011 to celebrate New York City's Gay Pride at The LGBT Center in Manhattan. Broadway Sings for Pride: A Benefit Concert, is being produced by Neal B of NealB.tv and will benefit The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. Attendees will enjoy the vast array of songs from Lady Gaga to The Beatles, along with a plethora of Broadway hits. Musical performances will feature cast members from The Book of Mormon, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Rent, Wonderland, Mamma Mia, Anything Goes and many more! Jim Lahti will serve as the evening's musical director and Carly Jibson (Broadway's Hairspray and Cry-Baby) will emcee. Musical accompaniment will be provided Jim Lahti on piano, Sean Harkness on acoustic & electric guitar and David Silliman on percussion. Kat Dudina and Mia Grottola, American Sign Language interpreters, will be signing for the hard of hearing and deaf community.

GLAAD Media Award recipients were announced in 25 of this year's 32 media categories at the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented nationally by RÖKK Vodka and locally by American Airlines and Prudential at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in New York on Saturday night. Additional awards will be presented in Los Angeles on April 10 at the Westin Bonaventure, and in San Francisco on May 14 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.

On Saturday, June 19, Julie Andrews was honored at the Starlight Ball in East Hampton Andrews recently played a sold out concert, 'An Evening with Julie Andrews' at the O2 Arena in the UK on May 8, 2010. 'An Evening with Julie Andrews' saw a night of music from her greatest stage and screen performances, as well as the live narration of the story Simeon's Gift, the best-selling childrens book written by Julie and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton (now available). Andrews and Hamilton recently released a second book, A Very Faity Princess. In attendance were special guests Christie Brinkley, Juergen & Anke Friedrich, and Jay McInerney & Anne Hearst McInerney.
