The Public Theater announced the full line-up today for the 15th annualUNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL, running January 3-13, 2019. Theatricum Announces 2018 Israel Baran Award-Winner

Botanicum Seedlings, Theatricum Botanicum's new play development program, is pleased to announce the recipient of the 8th annual "Izzy" award for new plays. The winning play, The Orange Garden by Joanna Garner, was presented during last year's Summer Playreadings. The Izzy is named for Theatricum's first dramaturg, Israel Baran, who passed away in 2007. To honor Israel's keen mind, sharp tongue, and ear for language (despite the fact that he was frustratingly deaf), the Izzy was established to recognize the Seedlings play that "speaks to us the loudest."

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance presents a semi-staged reading featuring professional and student actors in a lyrical biography of the life and work Leonard Bernstein, directed by KJ Sanchez (ReEntry). Written by Kirk Lynn (The Method Gun) and commissioned through collaboration with The College of Fine Arts and Texas Performing Arts, A Plan and Not Quite Enough Time takes a symphonic look at the major melodies playing throughout Bernstein's life: music, family, spiritual longing, carnal passions and death. We see him as a boy and man, as a father and son; bisexually brilliant and politically naive. Cymbals crash, the brass crescendo, the maestro takes a bow.

Seattle Rep Fully Funded For New Playwright Program

With excitement and gratitude, Seattle Repertory Theatre today announced that it was granted full funding from the prestigious Elizabeth George Foundation for support of commissions for the work of three writers - Joanna Garner, Lily Houghton, and C.A. Johnson. This grant funds developmental work that will begin this fall 2018 through Seattle Rep's The Other Season. The Foundation's incredible support enables artists at the very beginning stage of their careers to have their work recognized and cultivated by institutions across the nation like Seattle Rep in the hope that these theatres become the artistic homes for the work being created.
