Forget about the king, it's good to be QUEEN: the iconic rock band scored its highest-charting album in 38 years with the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack (Hollywood Records), which surged from No. 25 to No. 3 on The Billboard 200 (a 187% increase) and is currently No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 and Top Rock Albums charts.

We Will Rock You, originally produced by Robert De Niro and written by Ben Elton, who, building on Queen's repertoire, collaborated with the remaining members of the group roger Taylor and Brian May, was one of the first highly successful jukebox musicals.  Opening in 2002 at the huge Dominion Theatrein London, where it run for 12 years, the show traveled to the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.  It was also a big hit in Australia, Japan and Russia.  And in 2006, it was produced in Portugal, Chilie, Argentina, Switzerland and Germany,  followed by long runs in Madrid, Vienna, Singapour and Hong-Kong.  The German language version also met with huge success in both Cologne and Stuttgart, but the Canadian production in Toronto, an obvious try-out, never made it to Broadway.  The reason clearly lies in the book, beyond silly compared to those of the now numerous other juke box musicals that hit the great white way towards the beginning of the millennium. 

Back by popular demand! Johannesburg audiences are in for a musical treat when Emperors Palace hosts the world's premier Freddie Mercury and Queen tribute show, Queen: It's a Kinda Magic, for a four-week run over the Christmas period.

Montalvo Arts Center will present The Ultimate Queen Celebration as part of its 2018-2019 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series. Garnering 13 million views on his YouTube cover of "Somebody to Love," Marc Martel not only sounds dead-on like Freddie Mercury, but also embodies the heart-and-soul Freddie poured into every song. Handpicked by Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May, Marc Martel will take on lead vocals for this Queen tribute featuring dozens of songs that Queen made famous, including "Killer Queen," "Radio Gaga," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and more. Marc Martel has a naturally uncanny vocal likeness to Freddie Mercury. A successful musician in his own right in his native Canada, Marc came to prominence when auditioning as a singer for Queen's Roger Taylor and Brian May's official tribute band, Queen Extravaganza back in 2012. The Recording Academy will honor its 2018 Special Merit Awards recipients with 'GRAMMY Salute To Music Legends®,' an awards ceremony and live tribute concert on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award honorees are Hal Blaine, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Louis Jordan, the Meters, Queen, and Tina Turner. Additional Special Merit Awards honorees to be celebrated include Bill Graham, Seymour Stein, and John Williams, who are this year's Trustees Award honorees, and Tony Agnello and Richard Factor, who are the Technical GRAMMY Award recipients. Also being honored is Melissa Salguero, this year's recipient of the Music Educator Award. Led by GRAMMY®-nominated industry icon Greg Phillinganes as musical director, the tribute concert will feature rare performances by honorees and never-seen renditions by those they've inspired. Currently scheduled to appear are eight-time GRAMMY winner Herb Alpert, who will honor Blaine; past GRAMMY nominee Micky Dolenz, who will be honoring Diamond; GRAMMY winner Sammy Hagar, who will pay tribute to Graham; 13-time GRAMMY winner and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Harris; past GRAMMY nominee Ledisi, who will salute Jordan; and three-time GRAMMY winner Trisha Yearwood, who will pay tribute to Harris. Presenters for the evening include actress Angela Bassett and GRAMMY winner Henry Rollins. Additional performers and presenters will be announced shortly. The iconic British rock band Duran Duran are set to take over BBC Four on Friday 29 June from 9pm.
