Northwest Inkwell is pleased to announce a new reading of the WWII musical, The Dance. The musical brings a fresh approach since its scheduled 2014 NYC reading starring Liz Callaway and Derek Klena. This musical is conceived and written by James Langston Drake and will take place in March at The Mercury Theatre (3745 N Southport Avenue, Chicago IL 60613).

A team of scientists from the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History and The Jamestown RediscoveryFoundation at Historic Jamestowne announced the identities of four men buried within Jamestown's historic 1608 church, the location of Pocahontas' marriage to John Rolfe. These people, Rev. Robert Hunt, Capt. Gabriel Archer, Sir Ferdinando Wainman and Capt. William West, were high-status leaders who helped shape the future of America during the initial phase of the Jamestown colony.

Tracy Letts, the author of SUPERIOR DONUTS, now on stage at Dobama, is an accomplished playwright, actor, and screenwriter. He was awarded the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for his play AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. He won a Tony Award for his portrayal of George in the recent Broadway revival of WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?. He wrote screen adaptations for his plays: BUG and KILLER JOE, as well as AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY and has been nominated for two Screen Actors Guild Awards for his portrayal of Andrew Lockhart in Showtime's HOMELAND.

Dobama may be entering its 55th year (I was present the moment founding artistic director Don Bianchi declared its existence), but it is actually in its first season. What? Late last season, the Dobama board voted to change the status of venue to that of a full professional theatre. This makes Dobama, like Great Lakes Theatre and Cleveland Play House, a stage where all actors are paid by equity standards and the production staff are members of the appropriate staging unions.

Produced and supervised by Media Music Theatre Company, the classes offer a semester of professional training for those just beginning or wishing to further their education.

Originally written by William Shakespeare and adapted by Orson Welles, the production will be directed by Celeste Cosentino and Tyson Rand, opening May 23. The production plays Thurs.- Sat. at 8pm; Sunday at 2pm through June 8th. Preview performance: tonight, May 22nd.
