TCG Announces Recipients of Rising Leaders of Color Program

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the participants who have been selected to participate in the second round of the Rising Leaders of Color (RLC) Program, supported by Meyer Memorial Trust and Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment. Building on learnings from the 2016 Washington, DC program, the second round of RLC will focus on early-career leaders from Oregon, this year adding a theatre criticism/journalism track.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Critics Institute, the nation's only program designed for arts writers and critics to strengthen their skills, has joined with American Theatre magazine and Theatre Communications Group's Rising Leaders of Color to address the lack of diversity in the critical talent pool, and to create new opportunities to nurture and grow arts journalists to reflect the increasingly diverse work on U.S. stages.

Artistic Director Sarah Benson, FUTURITY is a new, avant-Americana musical with music by Alvarez and The Lisps, and lyrics and book by Alvarez. The production, which features 13 actor-musicians, is presented at the Connelly Theater (220 E. 4th St.) and in association with Carole Shorenstein Hays.
