On Saturday, August 3 at 8:00 p.m., jazz artist Jane Monheit returns home for one night only to perform at CM Performing Arts Center.

You know that saying that 'two is better than one?' Well it couldn't have been a more enjoyably appropriate description than the swingin'-est concert to hit Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in some time: the double-bill of jazz powerhouses Jane Monheit and John Pizzarelli. The two talented stars--each accompanied by their own incredible traveling bands--played to an almost-packed house this past Friday, October 5 as the rousing season opener for the 2012-2013 Cabaret Series at the Center.

An accomplished, world renowned jazz vocalist with a clear affinity for musical theater, Jane Monheit is set to appear in Costa Mesa on October 5 for a one-night-only concert alongside fellow jazz star John Pizzarelli as part of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts' 2012-2013 Cabaret series. Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist and Usdan alumna Jane Monheit and her husband, drummer Rick Montalbano, have joined the Leadership Council of Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the nationally renowned summer arts day camp.

Jane Monheit will wrap up her summer with a gig at the 2010 Tanglewood Jazz festival and the release of her new album 'Home' a classic standards collection from the Great American Songbook.

It?s been just over a decade since Jane Monheit first made a name for herself after placing second in the Thelonious Monk competition in 1998. Since then, she?s been touted one of the next great vocalists of her generation, and she?s now on tour in support of her seventh release and second for the Concord Label, The Lovers, the Dreamers and Me. The recording features arrangements by Gil Goldstein and songs ranging from standards by the likes of Cole Porter and Leonard Bernstein, a pop song by Fiona Apple, and love songs like ?The Rainbow Connection,? a children?s song she sings to her son, Jack, who was born during the making of the recording. Monheit will appear at the Blue Note in June during the first leg of the June Vocal Series, which will feature Spencer Day, Sophie Milman, Bilal and Rachelle Ferrell throughout the month.
