Paul Roseby, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) has today announced a new season of work for the company in celebration of their 60th anniversary year. UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts Department of Drama presents Henrik Ibsen's classic An Enemy of the People, an examination of societal dynamics that is perhaps even more relevant today than when it was written in 1882. At the heart of this story is individual truth-telling versus popular opinion, the ulterior motives of economic interests, and the question of whether truth is ever absolute. In Ibsen's words, spoken by the play's idealistic Dr. Stockmann, 'Truth shifts. You don't seem to realize that over the centuries what were truths reconfigure as lies.'

Autumn 2015 will see the Everyman & Playhouse collaborating with some of the greatest theatre makers in the country. The season begins with Simon Armitage's The Odyssey: Missing Presumed Dead, directed by Associate Director Nick Bagnall, a co-production with English Touring Theatre.

In this taut 2013 theatrical adaptation of Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela's award winning-book, the apartheid regime's most notorious assassin and head of its death squad, Eugene de Kock (played by Matthew Marsh), sits opposite psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela (played Noma Dumezweni) in Pretoria Central Prison in 1997. Gobodo-Madikizela is a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission determined to understand his actions. She questions de Kock, who is sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years for crimes against humanity, murder, conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and fraud.

It will tour from September to November 2015, including two weeks of rural touring in association with Eastern Angles, before playing at London's Arcola Theatre in January 2016.
