The Met has announced the Week 9 schedule for its Nightly Met Opera Streams, a free series of encore Live in HD presentations streamed on the company website during the coronavirus closure.

Today, the Metropolitan Opera announced plans to furlough 41 members of its administrative staff and reduce the hours of an additional 11 staff members, due to revenue losses from the COVID-19 pandemic.

For all you lovelorn, “live opera”-lovers, the Met is coming to the rescue from COVID-19 this afternoon, Saturday April 25, at 1pm New York time, with a gala concert featuring over 40 artists performing direct from their homes around the world.

Each opera streamed on Fridays will be chosen by viewers; the second Viewers' Choice title to be screened is Verdi's La Traviata, starring Natalie Dessay.

The Metropolitan Opera announced plans today to live-stream what it is billing as an At-Home Gala on Saturday, April 25, at 1pm EDT, featuring performances by many of the company's most prominent artists, live from their own quarantines around the world.

A day after canceling upcoming performances due to concerns around the coronavirus, the Metropolitan Opera announced that it would stream encore presentations from the award-winning Live in HD series of cinema transmissions on the company website for the duration of the closure.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Metropolitan Opera announced today that the company has canceled the remainder of the 2019-20 season, which was to have ended on May 9, 2020. This includes all performances and Live in HD transmissions. (The Met had previously announced that performances through March 31, 2020, would be canceled.)

Four of the world's leading opera stars join the Met Orchestra: mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, who will sing selections from Berlioz's Les Troyens, and soprano Christine Goerke, tenor Brandon Jovanovich, and bass Günther Groissböck, who will perform the first act of Wagner's Die Walküre.
