Picasso's 'Le Tricorne' Installation Time-Lapse On View at The New-York Historical Society

he New-York Historical Society recently unveiled Picasso's 'Le Tricorne' tapestry, a 19-by-20 foot painted stage curtain dating from 1919. Jason Gardner, of Jason Gardner Photo + Video, produced a time-lapse video of the arrival of the work in a 23-foot-long tube, its transfer through a second-story window 35-feet above 77th Street, and the process of mounting and unfurling the piece in the Society's Dexter Hall, where it is currently on display.

PS DANCE!, an inspiring documentary showcasing the profound effects of dance education in NYC public schools, will air on tri-state public television stations THIRTEEN tonight, May 15 at 10:30 p.m., WLIW21 on May 17 at 3:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and NJTV on May 26 at 10:00 p.m. After the initial broadcast, the full film will also be available for online streaming at THIRTEEN.org/specials. Hosted by veteran TV journalist Paula Zahn and filmed in the classrooms of five NYC public school full-time certified dance educators, this film reveals the impact that consistent and sequential dance instruction has on students' aesthetic, artistic and expressive development. While every child is born with the innate inclination to create, imagine and dance, PS DANCE! highlights how the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Dance, PreK-12, supports dance teachers in developing these qualities.

When talking about arts in schools, we usually think of visual arts like painting, photography or drawing. Each of these has had a long history in public education, but it is rare for schools to have a dance program.
