Thanks to the vision and determination of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's pioneering artists, the adventure that began in 1953 with two productions in a tent is now North America's premier repertory theatre. In a season celebrating 60 years of theatrical achievement, the Festival presents 14 productions in five venues, featuring Christopher Plummer and one of the finest acting companies in the world. The season runs now thru October 28.

Des McAnuff Receives Governor General’s Performing Arts Award Tonight

Artistic Director Des McAnuff will receive the National Arts Centre Award of the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards at a ceremony at Rideau Hall tonight. The ceremony is followed by a gala performance at the National Arts Centre, honouring each of Governor General Performing Arts Award recipients. Mr. McAnuff is being recognized for his extraordinary accomplishments over the past performance year.

Des McAnuff Extends at Stratford to 2013; 2012 Season Announced

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival's Board of Governors announceed that Des McAnuff will continue as Artistic Director through the 2013 season.
'Mr. McAnuff is a very gifted director and leader who is much in demand, and we are delighted that he has agreed to continue as our Artistic Director for an additional two years,' says Dr. Lee Myers, Chair of the Board of Governors.

Jake Hertzog will be giving a concert at The Irdium Jazz Club. The concert will take place Saturday, January 8th at midnight. Hertzog is one of the most original and exciting new guitarists on the scene. Performing with the venerated rhythm section of Harvie S (bass) and Victor Jones (drums) the Jake Hertzog Trio bends genres with their exhilarating live performances. Appearing at what has become their New York home, The Iridium Jazz club, this is an event not to miss, as the band prepares for their 3rd studio album to be released this spring.
