You don't have to go to NYC to find talented young up and coming performers. The Media Theatre's summer 'Vocalist' and 'Vocalist Junior' events allow local youth to shine on stage each Wednesday and Sunday night from July 6 through August 14.

?It's a Super Summer at The Media Theatre! With many shows to choose from including Andrew Lloyd Webber's "School of Rock" musical and a new Cabaret Series, theatre goers of all ages will have plenty to keep them entertained.

Fox-TV Channel 29's super weather anchor, Sue Serio, has a knack for calling it like she sees it when it comes to The Media Theatre's 'Vocalist' contest. Having emceed the popular summer singing competition for several years, Serio opened the year's event once again. With her warm, welcoming spirit and terrific connection to the enthusiastic audience, Serio said the night's show was 'Astonishing'. 

The Media Theatre is where you'll find the best local up and coming talent this summer in the 2015 'Vocalist' and 'Vocalist Junior' contests. Young singers from elementary school age through college and a bit beyond will entertain audiences twice per week beginning July 8 for five weeks. Media Music Theatre Company produces the event each summer.

Pressure can be defined as 'the stress or urgency of matters demanding attention'. Nothing demanded more attention to 25 young singers Wednesday night July 30 more than 'The Vocalist' contest at The Media Theatre. They knew at the end of the night only 15 would return for the 'Vocalist' finals on August 6.

The Vocalist competition started up Wednesday night July 9 at The Media Theatre, with a vibrant audience, a charming emcee, pleasant judges, and lots of aspiring young performers. Delaware County's premiere vocal contest is produced and organized by Media Music Theatre Company.

"Be sure you listen to the piano." "You need to work on your lyrics." "Lean in closer to the microphone." These are just a few of the comments given to the young performers ages 7-13 in The Media Theatre's "Vocalist Junior" contest during rehearsals prior to singing in front of the live audience on Sunday nights.

The Media Theatre held auditions for the 2012 "Delco Idol" contests on May 21 and 23. More than 150 singers participated, and now the theatre has chosen this year's contestants. The final list of contestants for "Delco Idol" and "Delco Idol Junior" is available online at www.mediatheatre.org.

Media Theatre's "Delco Idol" contest begins tonight, July 11 at 7pm, with the "Junior" competition starting up Sunday July 15 at 7pm. Each continues for a total of five weeks. Five or more contestants are eliminated each week until the finals, when 20 singers will try for the 2012 title in each contest. Iron Workers Bank is the sponsor for the third summer.
