On Monday, August 14, Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland was the place for an enormous variety of musical talent, with Caruso hosting, Billy Stritch accompanying on the eighty-eights, and the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra (Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums). 

One music legend came to hear another last night.  Clive Davis was in Michael Feinstein's opening night audience as the Ambassador of the Great American Songbook brought the show-stopping songs of Broadway to his second home… Feinstein's/54 Below.

NJTV, New Jersey's public television network, recently announced the fourth season of the award-winning music series, American Songbook at NJPAC, hosted for the first time by multi-platinum-selling entertainer Michael Feinstein, premieres tonight, January 25th, on NJTV (check local listings). Lucas DeBard, this year's Songbook Youth Ambassador, will perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on September 3, as part of their Millennium Stage series. Lucas will be joined by the three most recent Youth Ambassadors - Madelyn Baillio, Julia Goodwin, and Nick Ziobro. The quartet will be accompanied by members of The American Pops Orchestra for the performance that will be streamed live online and become part of a permanent archive of similar performances on the Millennium Stage, which take place daily in Washington.

Michael Feinstein joined Nick Ziobro, the 17 year-old pop/jazz vocal sensation, as a special guest for his CD release concert at Birdland Jazz Club (315 West 44th Street in Manhattan) last night, May 22 at 6:00 PM. The CD's all-star band - led by Tedd Firth and featuring music Jay Leonhart on bass, Ray Marchica on drums, Brian Pareschi on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Marc Phaneuf on saxophone and clarinet - also joined the concert. Nick's debut album A Lot of Livin' to Do is produced by Michael Feinstein, the two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated vocalist, pianist and musicologist.
