The Tony race for Best Leading Actress in a Musical is a tight one this year, with five Broadway powerhouses earning well-deserved nods- Sutton Foster, Kelli O'Hara, Mary Bridget Davies, Idina Menzel, and Jessie Mueller. The Tony Awards and Dress Circle Publishing have announced a special fan experience at the Tony Awards Pop-Up Shop featuring author and musical theater historian Jennifer Ashley Tepper and Broadway favorites Annie Golden (Violet, 'Orange is the New Black'), Brian Yorkey (If/Then, Next to Normal), Caissie Levy (LES MISERABLES, Ghost) and more on Tuesday, May 13th from 5-6.30PM. The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced that it will present the 2014 Regional Theatre Award to New York's Signature Theatre. Each year, the Tony Awards Administration Committee presents a Tony Award to a regional theatre on the recommendation of the American Theatre Critics Association. The Tony Awards Administration Committee has met three previous times throughout the 2013-2014 season to decide the eligibility for the 68th Annual Tony Awards, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced this year's recipients of 2014 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre. These honors will be presented at the Tony Honors Cocktail Party, a private cocktail reception, on Monday, June 2nd at the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe. The Tony Awards Second Screen have been selected as an official honoree in the Media & Entertainment category for the 18th Annual Webby Awards. TonyAwards.com's Second Screen developed by IBM, Tony Award Productions and Serino Coyne was introduced for the 2013 Tony Awards. U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today joined actors Neil Patrick Harris, Bryan Cranston, other top Broadway actors and characters, as well as a number of Broadway producers, as he announced his campaign to give Broadway and live theater productions a major tax break that will encourage investment and spur job creation on the Great White Way. Schumer today called for passage of his key amendment that would change the federal tax code and create equal tax treatment for live theater by extending its investors the same benefits afforded already to film and television producers. Schumer today noted that individual investors are the backbone of this industry, but it is often a prohibitively risky enterprise to invest and finance commercial stage production. Schumer is rallying for his plan to help alter that reality; last week, he successfully fought for his amendment to be included in a Senate tax bill in that will be considered for a full vote in the Senate in the coming weeks.

The Broadway League, the national trade association of the commercial theatre industry, announces that New York is now the fourth jurisdiction in America to offer financial incentives to investors who originate live productions within New York State, effective for tax year commencing January 1, 2015. Included in the budget for Fiscal Year 2014 - 2015 is a program offering a 25% tax credit to producers who tech their shows in New York's facilities.

The Tony Awards have announced that the Paramount Hotel will also host the Meet the Nominees Press Reception on Wednesday, April 30th and the 2014 Tony Nominee Luncheon on Tuesday, May 20th. Additionally, the Paramount Hotel will host the 2014 Tony Honors Cocktail Reception on Monday, June 2nd, which will present the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre, the Regional Theatre Award and celebrate the 2014 Special Award Recipients. The 2014 Tony Award Nominations on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. The live ceremony will take place at the Paramount Hotel's newly renovated Diamond Horseshoe.
