#WETHEPLANET Livestream Event to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day

Social entrepreneur and co-founder Kunal Sood, along with co-founder Laura Muranaka, will present their new initiative #WeThePlanet as a live stream event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day reinforcing the importance of climate change and its impact on humanity. The global stream will be available on YouTube on April 22.

Sing For Hope To Receive Grant From The National Endowment For The Arts

Sing for Hope has been approved for a $10,000 Challenge America grant to support the Sing for Hope Pianos. This project expands public art access for sites where pathways to arts access are generally denied due to income or accessibility.

On Monday, October 28, Sing for Hope held its 13th annual Sing for Hope Gala, uniting New York's philanthropic and cultural leaders for a magical evening in support of the organization's programs and commitment to bring the arts to under-resourced areas. Sing for Hope Pianos continue to be embraced as symbols of community, excellence, and access. A newly unveiled Sing for Hope Piano helped mark the much-anticipated opening of The REACH at The Kennedy Center, the first new addition to The Kennedy Center since its grand opening nearly 50 years ago. As the United States' National Cultural Center, The Kennedy Center is the busiest of all U.S. performing arts venues, hosting more than 2,000 performances a year and serving as the home of both the National Symphony Orchestra and the Washington National Opera.

Where do children and the arts belong in conversations on global social development? Front and center, say UNICEF, Sing for Hope's HandaHarmony program, Juilliard, Nord Anglia Education, and youth participants from around the world. These leading organizations in conjunction with UN Member States, co-hosted a side event at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) celebrating how young people are using art and advocacy to further the UN's Social Development Goals (SDGs). The event, titled “Child and Youth Art, Advocacy and Action to be Safe to Learn: A student presentation on SDGs 4 and 17,” brought together 100 students from around the world, showcasing how their creativity can be used to end violence in schools, and compelling Member States to include youth arts in their SDG efforts.

On Tuesday, December 11th, Sing for Hope united young artists from Queens and Haiti for an afternoon of performance, collaboration, and community-building through the universal language of the arts. The Andrea Bocelli Foundations' "Voices of Haiti" Choir, which performed with Mr. Bocelli at Madison Square Garden the following night, exchanged performances and stories with the middle school choir at IS 10 Horace Greeley, one of 180 Sing for Hope partner schools.

Turn The Spotlight Launches To Mentor Exceptional Women And People Of Color

Today, twenty-one arts leaders and activists announce the launch of Turn The Spotlight, a foundation created to pair top-tier mentors with exceptional women, people of color, and other equity-seeking groups in the arts. Beth Stewart, a New York City-based arts entrepreneur and classical music publicist, will lead the foundation, which is supported by an Advisory Board of arts world luminaries, including soprano Julia Bullock, journalists Anne Midgette and Celeste Headlee, conductors Lidiya Yankovskaya and Nicole Paiement, stage director Francesca Zambello, classical music publicist Mary Lou Falcone, arts advocates Monica Yunus and Camille Zamora, and women's rights advocate Amanda Mejia.

Sing for Hope & Mini USA Partner for #DrivingHope Initiative During 8th Annual Sing For Hope Pianos

Sing for Hope, the nonprofit arts organization, and MINI USA today announced #DrivingHope, a partnership motivated by both organizations' passion for bringing creativity to communities. MINI USA will join the country's largest recurring public arts project, the Sing for Hope Pianos, by creating a mobile #MINIPiano inside a MINI Countryman. From June 4-24, the 50 Sing for Hope Pianos will be located throughout the five boroughs and the #MINIPiano will act as a traveling piano, driving music directly to additional underserved communities.
