BWW Review: THE SISTERHOOD, Belgrade Theatre Coventry, February 2 2016

Based on Moliere's Les Femmes Savantes, The Sisterhood is currently playing at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry. The production is directed by their Artistic Director Hamish Glen and has been relocated in time from the late 1600's to the 1980's; visually a complete contradiction but relevant based on theme.

Coventry's Belgrade Theatre is banishing the winter blues with a brand new production of Moliere's rarely performed romantic comedy, The Sisterhood, which will be directed by Artistic Director Hamish Glen and runs from Sat 30 Jan - Sat 20 Feb 2016 in B2.

Ian Gelder - Kevan Lannister in the epic TV drama series Game of Thrones - is to play Frankenstein director James Whale and Will Austin is gardener Clayton Boone, who becomes the object of Whale's obsession, in the world premiere of Gods and Monsters at Southwark Playhouse. Gods and Monsters, directed by Russell Labey, produced by Danielle Tarento, will receive its world premiere in a five-week season now through Saturday 7 March. Press night is 10 February. GO SEE by Norman Mailer's Widow, to Make World Premiere at King's Head Theatre, Nov 12-29

This November Islington's King's Head Theatre is to stage the world premiere of Norris Church Mailer's stage play Go See, a gripping exploration of personal, cultural and sexual identity in a big city. Directed by Sondra Lee and designed by Klara Zieglerova with lighting design by Mike Robertson, the show runs November 12 to 29, 2014. Press night is slated for November 14 at 7.15 p.m.

Propaganda Swing is a co-production between the Belgrade Theatre and Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company and is written by Peter Arnott. The writing is based upon a true story at the commencement of World War II in Berlin. Billy Constant, an American CBS journalist, narrates the proceedings and is heavily revolved around his love for German jazz singer, Lala Anderson. Lala is part of a jazz band whom are forced to conform to music approved by Hitler against their will.

Lost Boy will end its current five-week season at Charing Cross Theatre as planned on Saturday 15 February. The theatre then has a 2-week hire. Lost Boy will re-open on Monday March 3 and run to Saturday 29 March.
