Disney+ Announces New Nonfiction Projects, Including THE QUEST, THE MAZE, & More

Disney+ is developing the next generation of the critically-acclaimed series “The Quest,” now featuring teen participants and adding more epic world building interactive elements. The streaming service has also greenlit the ultimate brainteaser competition series “The Maze,” National Geographic's “Meet the Chimps” and an untitled docuseries that follows Pixar's SparkShorts program as they discover talented new storytellers, it was announced today during a Disney+ panel at the Realscreen Summit in New Orleans.
China Crisis and Rational Youth Unite for Sonic Feast

The UK's own China Crisis and Canada's new wave pioneers Rational Youth, two of the most illustrious bands of the 1980s, will unite for a special show at Toronto's Revival Bar. Organized by The Sousa Group, this event will take place on January 25 with local new wave outfit Slave to the SQUAREwave opening the show. Legendary Muchmusic VJ Michael Williams will be hosting this event.

truTV is getting down and dirty with the greenlight of Tirdy Works, an unscripted sitcom set in a small rural town with four paved roads and a booming new business: arts and crafts created out of moose turds. Set in Somerville, Maine, the series is a hilarious, off-kilter look at entrepreneurship, parenthood, and life told through the eyes of artist Mary Winchenbach and her family.

Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization promoting equality by creating, sharing, and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen, announced today that it will honor Emmy Award-winning “Queer Eye” production company Scout Productions at the 2019 Outfest Legacy Awards Gala: A Benefit to Protect Our Past and Build Our Future, on Sunday, October 27th. Outfest will also honor “Vida” creator, executive producer and showrunner Tanya Saracho during the “Unveiling of a New Era” themed gala. The show will be hosted by Emmy nominated Sheryl Lee Ralph and include a special performance by Dana Goldberg. This year's awards dinner will once again take place at performing arts venue Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles, with head chef Neal Fraser of Redbird and the show will be produced by Tony award-winning producer Scott Mauro.
