David Bowie's legacy lives on. Today, January 11, just one day after the 69-year-old Lazarus composer and legendary singer passed away, the cast of his new musical gathered at a recording studio in Manhattan to lay down the show's cast album.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) presents Lazarus byDavid Bowie and Enda Walsh (Once, Tony Award), inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, and directed by Ivo van Hove (Hedda Gabler, More Stately Mansions, Obie Awards). Lazarus officially opens tonight, December 7, 2015, and will now run through January 17, 2016 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003). One of the most highly anticipated shows of the season, LAZARUS, is already causing quite a stir, and now more information has been revealed about David Bowie's new musical.

The Drama Book Shop will host actor, Director, and co-founder of The Barrow Group, Seth Barrish, on Friday, November 13th, 2015 at 5:00pm. Mr. Barrish will discuss his exstensive career and the latest version of his popular book, An Actor's Companion. He will be joined by legendary director, filmmaker and puppeteer, Frank Oz.

The Chicago Public Library announced today that it will be hosting a discussion with Michael Alan Peck - winner of the 2015 Soon to Be Famous Illinois Author Contest - and branding expert David Vinjamuri on October 16, 2015 at 12:15pm. Not only did Michael win the Soon to be Famous Illinois Author contest, but he also represents a new brand of author, one that wants to retain ultimate control of his work. After Peck wrote the compelling award-wining book 'The Commons,' he did not seek a traditional publisher. He retained control and sought out professionals to assist him with the traditional publishing work. When asked about the upcoming event, Peck stated, 'I'm very excited about this opportunity to discuss the writing and publishing process. I hope my experience as a self-published author sheds some light for others who may be trying to do the same.' Michael Alan Peck won the Soon to Be Famous Illinois Author Contest for his contemporary fantasy novel, 'The Journeyman.' 'The Journeyman' tells the story of three people who board a bus and - following a horrific accident - must band together as the last hope for the afterlife, known to them as The Commons. David Vinjamuri is a Forbes.com contributor and adjunct assistant professor of marketing at NYU who inspired the libraries to create the Soon to be Famous contest that Michael Alan Peck recently won. He has always had a love and respect for libraries, and was quoted in a recent interview saying, 'I think that libraries are one of the best sources of recommendations and discovery for books, that they're greatly under-used by publishers to develop backlists for authors, to introduce new authors to book groups and communities and to generally develop books.' As an author, David Vinjamuri writes both fiction and nonfiction. His works include Accidental Branding: How Ordinary People Build Extraordinary Brands, Understanding Self-Publishing, Operator (Michael Herne Book 1), and Binder (Michael Herne Book 2). Michael Alan Peck will speak with David Vinjamuri about his work and the process of becoming a successful self-published author. The Soon to be Famous Illinois Author project, now in its second year, is the brainchild of library marketing professionals who were inspired after listening to a presentation by brand expert and NYU professor David Vinjamuri. Vinjamuri spoke at the American Library Association's 2013 annual conference about the importance of libraries in the era of e-books and self-publishing. He challenged libraries to wield their collective influence to lift a self-published author to success to create a measurable indicator of the power of libraries and librarians to affect books and reading. This project received the prestigious John Cotton Dana Award by the American Library Association in 2015. The Chicago Public Library is located at 400 South State Street, Chicago, IL 60605. Shrunken Shakespeare Company presented the world premiere reading of Chukwudi Iwuji's masterpiece screenplay IRA on June 8th, 2015. The reading was the centerpiece of the SSC 2015 Spring Gala and was directed by Danya Taymor. The Creative Producer was Adam Shulman (Dukes of Hazard: The Beginning, Song One starring Anne Hathaway), host of SSC's Annual Benefit Gala and Staged Reading of at W83 (150 West 83rd Street, between Amsterdam and Columbus). Shrunken Shakespeare Company (Yvonne Cone and Jennifer Martina, Co-Producing Artistic Directors) announced today that Madeline Brewer has joined the cast as Meg, in the world premiere reading of Chukwudi Iwuji's masterpiece screenplay Ira - on June 8th, 2015. Brewer joins new cast member Eli Gelb (The Squid and the Whale, Holy Rollers).

On Monday, June 1, HERE honors Mary McCormick, President of the Fund for the City of New York, and Donn Russell, Director of The Peg Santvoord Foundation, at its annual gala.  The gala, entitled FutureCity, begins at 6:00pm with the Taste of Tomorrow Dinner at City Winery (155 Varick Street) featuring VIP Cocktail Reception, dinner, performances and live & silent auctions, and continues with The HEREafter Party, beginning at 8:30pm at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue), with cocktails, hors d'Oeuvres, silent auction, performances and dancing.

BUZZER marks the return of Wilson to The Public following her acclaimed The Good Negro in 2009 and The Story in 2003. Directed by Obie award winner Anne Kauffman, BUZZER will run in The Public's Martinson Theater through Sunday, April 26, with an official opening last night, April 8.
