Lumberyard Announces Summer Season
by Stephi Wild
- May 9, 2019
LUMBERYARD Center for Film and Performing Arts's summer 2019 season will bring some of New York City's most exciting artists to the organization's state-of-the-art Hudson Valley facility, built just 101 miles from Manhattan to provide a crucial lifeline for the performing arts ecosystem. New American work and the institutions built to present it in NYC are more technologically advanced than ever before; however, there is a critical gap in the system, as artists can no longer transition from studio to theater with only a few days of technical rehearsal, and NYC presenters can't afford to close their doors for extended technical rehearsals.
BWW Review: THE FEVER at Woolly Mammoth is a Positive, Communal Experience
by Barbara Johnson
- Oct 25, 2018
600 Highwaymen's THE FEVER, which has made its way to Woolly Mammoth for a limited run after a national and international tour, is a collaborative piece requiring full audience participation. I can't say much about its content, as the slightest spoiler would either ruin the effect or fail to do the show justice. But I can say for certain that it's well worth experiencing as an exercise in empathy and a reminder that, yes, we're in this together. Are you intrigued?

As part of the inaugural Tilt Kids Festival, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) present The Total People, a new commission by 600 HIGHWAYMEN and the company's first work for young audiences. The Total People is a combination of things: a parade, a choir, a dance, and a collection of video portraits. As with past events, 600 HIGHWAYMEN continues to construct expansive performances that illuminate the poignancy and theatricality of people coming together. Their work examines presence and humanity, not only in the performance, but in process and aftermath. Sound design by Brandon Wolcott, video design by Jeff Larson, and produced by Andrew Dinwiddie.
