Promises, Promises, the Burt Bacharach/Hal David/Neil Simon musical was definitely a product of its time when it opened in 1968. And now, with the success of television's Mad Men, and the popularity of all things 'retro', the show is once again a timely piece. Stage Door Theatre will present this multi-award winning musical from September 25th through November 1st.

They sold over 75 million records, nine of them gold. They had more Top Ten hits than the Beatles or Elvis. Until the advent of The Supremes, The Andrews Sisters - Patty, Maxene, and Laverne - were the most imitated of all female singing groups; they are still one of the best-selling female vocal groups of all time.  Sisters of Swing, which will run from June 5th through July 12th at the Stage Door Theatre, details the fascinating journey of these three sisters from their early days in vaudeville through their success in 'the big time'.

For its 99th season, the National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene will present one of the largest productions in its history, the American premiere of a new musical based on the 1975 Academy-Award-nominated film Lies My Father Told Me adapted from the works of Ted Allan. At age 27, Christopher Massimine is the youngest theater executive to oversee the production activities within a major multi-million dollar theatrical organization. Previously holding the position of Marketing Communications Director at The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene, he has now assumed the role as Producing Director where he will act as Supervising Producer on Folksbiene's forthcoming musical production LIES MY FATHER TOLD ME, a critical success in Canada making its American debut at Baruch Performing Arts Center on November 10 and running through December 15.

National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene, Executive Director Bryna Wasserman and Artistic Director Zalmen Mlotek, will present a multitude of theater and music events for its 99th season including the American premiere of the tender coming-of-age musical adapted from the 1975 Academy-Award-nominated and Golden-Globe-Award-winning film Lies My Father Told, November 10 through December 15, and the return by popular demand of The Megile Of Itzik Manger, March 2 through 16.

Now, almost 20 years later, Avi Hoffman's Still Jewish After All These Years will have its highly anticipated New York premiere tonight, Saturday, August 10th at 7pm at Stage 72 (formerly known as the Triad-158 W 72nd St). Opening night is Monday, August 19th at 7pm.

In 1994, Avi Hoffman's Too Jewish? premiered off-off Broadway at the Houseman Theater. After rave reviews and a six-month sold-out engagement, it transferred off-Broadway and had a successful six-month commercial run at the Westside Theater. In 1998, his Too Jewish, Too! opened to great critical acclaim, after which Mr. Hoffman 'vanished' from the New York theatre scene.
