The Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company will present the world premiere of mother and son writing team, Kathy Kacer and Jake Epstein's THEREFORE CHOOSE LIFE, which will also launch the company's residency at the new Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.

Sam and Jimmy have been friends for more than twenty-five years, and they are supposed to be facing "gay middle age" together. When Sam dies, it's up to Jimmy to plan their final picnic. Jimmy steals Sam's cremated remains from the funeral home and tries to give his friend the send off he deserves.

Eminent composer Stanley Silverman to attend the UK premiere of Arthur Miller's only musical Up From Paradise on Wednesday 23rd July followed by a free post-show Q&A. Based on Miller's 1972 play The Creation of the World and Other Business, Silverman wrote the musical with Arthur Miller in 1973.

Variety reports that theater veteran Christopher Plummer has joined the cast of Atom Egoyan's upcoming thriller REMEMBER.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, will present David Ives' THE HEIR APPARENT, adapted from the play by Jean-Francois Regnard, beginning performances Friday, March 28 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). Directed by John Rando, THE HEIR APPARENT will feature Suzanne Bertish (Madame Argante), Carson Elrod (Crispin), Claire Karpen (Lisette), Amelia Pedlow (Isabelle), David Pittu (Scruple), Dave Quay (Eraste) and Paxton Whitehead (Geronte). The official press opening for THE HEIR APPARENT is Wednesday, April 9. The production will play at limited engagement through Sunday, May 4.

Solo Collective Theatre proudly presents the world premiere of Cool Beans by Anton Lipovetsky, a romantic musical comedy involving identity crises, hipsters, wannabes and a coffee shop. Directed by Rachel Peake, with music direction by Mishelle Cuttler, Cool Beans features Jay Clift, Gili Roskies, Katey Hoffman and Josh Epstein, and is designed by John Webber and Drew Facey. Des McAnuff was invested into the Order of Canada at a ceremony presided over by the Governor General in Ottawa this morning. The Stratford Festival extends heartiest congratulations to Mr. McAnuff, who was Artistic Director from 2008 through 2012, and is currently directing Tommy, a musical based on the album by The Who, which he helped composer-lyricist Pete Townshend create.

The Guthrie Theater today announced that a public celebration of the life and work of former Guthrie artist Stephen Kanee, who passed away on January 18, will take place Sunday, April 14 at 11 a.m. on the Guthrie's Wurtele Thrust Stage.
