Alex Timbers, author/director of the politically charged BLOODY, BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, recently sat down with New York Times reporter Erik Piepenberg to discuss what it takes to bring politics to the stage. Timbers troupe, Les Freres Corbusier, has been performing political musicals since its inception in 2003, including A VERY MERRY UNAUTHORIZED CHILDREN'S SCIENTOLOGY PAGEANT, BOOZY, and HELL HOUSE.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting today for BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, the critically acclaimed rock musical that returns to The Public after a sold-out run last spring as part of The Public's Public LAB season. A co-production with Center Theatre Group and in association with Les Freres Corbusier, BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON is written and directed by Alex Timbers and features music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. Previews begin on Tuesday, March 23 and will continue through Sunday, April 25 with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 6.

On Saturday, October 10, HUMAN ANIMALS celebrated the opening of its inaugural production - the World Premiere of middlemen, an existential office comedy concerning adulthood, non-dairy creamer, and the collapse of the American workplace. Written by David Jenkins and directed by Josie Whittlesey, performances began at Walkerspace (46 Walker Street) on Friday, October 9th, 2009. The production is currently playing at Walkerspace through October 30.
