New York City's dynamic STOMP OUT LITTER anti-litter public awareness campaign launched six years ago by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty and featuring the cast of STOMP in a vibrant public service announcement encouraging New Yorkers to keep their city clean, can be seen again in New York City cabs and on posters on Department of Sanitation trucks.

On Thursday, July 19, 2012, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg kicks off the 38th anniversary of HARLEM WEEK with an official Gala Reception at Gracie Mansion. The afternoon affair will include an excerpt performance by the 2012 Tony award winning cast of Porgy & Bess. In addition to the performance, HARLEM WEEK will honor Carib News on its 30th Anniversary; Sylvia Woods in honor of Sylvia's Restaurants 50th Anniversary; and Jackie Rowe Adams in honor of her tireless community activism and commitment to antiviolence.

Yesterday, July 11, Peter and the Starcatcher, the five-time Tony® Award-winning play written by Rick Elice and directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, celebrated its 100th performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. In honor of the occasion, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has officially proclaimed July 11, 2012 as "Peter and the Starcatcher Day" in New York City.

On Thursday, May 24, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to kick off the summer season in Coney Island with the announcement of two brand new thrill rides and the beginning of seven-day-a-week amusement operations. Later, BP Markowitz was on hand with actor Tony Danza as John "Cha Cha" Ciarcia celebrated the opening of several new amusements and eateries. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver today joined Steiner Studios Chairman Douglas C. Steiner to open five new soundstages at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The new stages, totaling 45,000 square feet, will provide new and expanded opportunities for New Yorkers who work in the film, television and commercial production industry. The Mayor also launched initiatives designed to support and grow the industry, including new grants for training programs that prepare New Yorkers for careers in production and digital fields; a new entertainment component to the City's mini-MBA partnership with NYU's Stern School of Business; and a request for proposals for a "Made in NY" Media Center, which would provide media companies with affordable work space and other services. Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Oliver were joined at Steiner Studios by Boardwalk Empire actress Gretchen Mol and the show's writers; Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn; Seth Pinsky, President of the Economic Development Corporation; Robert W. Walsh, Commissioner of the Department of Small Business Services; Alan Fishman, Chairman of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation; and Council Member Domenic M. Recchia, Jr.

At the request of the office of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, ROCK OF AGES performed their classic anthems "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Here I Go Again" at The New York Giants Super Bowl Victory Ceremony at New York City Hall on Tuesday, November 7, 2012. Following the performance, members of the New York Giants football team were welcomed on stage to receive Keys to the City, presented by Mayor Bloomberg.

Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, organizers of Times Square New Year's Eve, today announced that there are 19 days left for the public to submit their New Year's Eve wishes at the Times Square Visitor Center, located on Seventh Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets, or online at www.TimesSquareNYC.org. Wishes collected at the Center and online will become part of the confetti that flutters down at midnight in Times Square on New Year's Eve 2012.
