From January 12th-21st, North Carolina Theatre will be presenting A.R. Gurney's LOVE LETTERS at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater. I recently had the great pleasure of stopping by rehearsal to interview the stars of this production, two-time Emmy nominee Sandy Duncan and Ira David Wood III.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theatre of California, has announced complete casting for their production of the original 1947 radio play of Miracle on 34th Street, which is being presented in honor of its 70th anniversary for a limited engagement of 14 performances from December 14 to 23 (press opening is December 15).

Oscar -winner Louis Gossett Jr. is stepping into the role of Judge George Taylor in the timely, reality-inspired feature film FOSTER BOY, currently in production. He replaces James Earl Jones, who became unavailable due to a scheduling conflict with another project. Gossett began work on Dec. 6.

Oscar®-winning actor Ben Affleck, Pixar filmmakers Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera, AutFest founder Matt Asner and several filmmakers were honored yesterday for their filmmaking contributions to autism awareness “from spectrum to screen” at the 1st Annual AutFest International Film Festival (April 22-23) in Orange, California.

Cary Elwes and Matthew Modine are starring in the World War II drama BURNING AT BOTH ENDS for Slingshot Ltd., as the opening project for the newly created Los Angeles-based production company. 

Founded and curated by Glory Kadigan, the annual Playwrights for a Cause benefit, hosted by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, addresses powerful social and topical issues in our society through the works of prominent playwrights. AutFest, the first film festival solely dedicated to an autistic audience and filmmakers, today announced its official program selections for its first annual film festival celebrating autism awareness “from spectrum to screen.”

The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) tonight announced winners of its 21st Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards, in 11 categories of film, television, commercials and music videos during a black-tie ceremony at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland. 'Hidden Figures' (Wynn Thomas), 'Passengers' (Guy Hendrix Dyas), and 'La La Land' (David Wasco), won Best Production Design for Feature Film. Television winners included 'Westworld' (Nathan Crowley), 'Mr. Robot' (Anastasia White), 'The Night Of' (Patrizia von Brandenstein), 'Mozart in the Jungle' (Tommaso Ortino), and 'The Great Indoors' (Glenda Rovello), respectively. The awards took place before an audience of more than 900, including guild members, industry executives and press. ADGPresident Nelson Coates and Art Directors Council Chair Marcia Hinds presided over the awards ceremony with Emmy®-winning comedian Patton Oswalt serving as host.

Award presenters include MATTHEW MODINE (Stranger Things), WILL FORTE and KRISTEN SCHAAL (The Last Man on Earth), TITUS WELLIVER (Bosch), CHRIS WILLIAMS (The Great Indoors) and KATE LINDER (The Young and the Restless).

Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice is poised between two Empires - The Sceptered Isle and La Serenissima. In honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of Shakespeare and the 500th anniversary of the birth of the Venetian ghetto, The Floor of Heaven interweaves moments from Shakespeare's complex and revolutionary text with the play's original music and songs from the English-Venetian soundscape that Shakespeare's characters would have played and heard.

Young star Millie Bobby Brown will reprise his role as Eleven in Season 2 of Netflix's hit drama series STRANGER THINGS. A rep for Netflix has declined to comment on the report.
