Jasper Jones is one of my favourite works of Australian literature. When I first read it, I couldn't put it down. I was waiting with Charlie for Jasper Jones to appear and struggling to keep it together like Eliza when she tells Charlie the story of what lead her sister to her death. Directed by Artistic Director Sam Strong, Queensland Theatre's production of Jasper Jones left me wanting more.

A number of key company debuts marked Seattle Opera's 2017-18 season opening

With stylized sets inspired by Japanese theater and lush, colorful kimono worn by singers, Seattle Opera's grand production of Madame Butterfly coming this August may seem like business-as-usual. But there's a dramatic difference that sets this Butterfly apart: the broader conversation taking place on cultural appropriation, yellowface, and Asian American representation. While certainly not new to many Asian and Pacific Islanders, these conversations have permeated the Puget Sound theater scene for the past several years following a production of The Mikado that made national news.

Melbourne Theatre Company's 2017 Season opens in 1940s style with Garson Kanin's Broadway classic Born Yesterday a screwball romance that has plenty to say about the dark side of politics and the power of knowledge. 

In two years, the Grace InFused Theatre Festival went from the drawing table to a full day event at the Columbus Performing Arts Center on Aug. 6. The festival, which promotes gospel-based productions, drew close to 100 people to a six-hour presentation that featured the world-premiere of STAINED GLASS, a table reading of PRODIGAL BROTHERS, two monologues by Howi Tiller and the music of Joe Hendrickson.

The cast for The Production Company's new staging of the Broadway whodunnit, Curtains was announced today. Ken Mackenzie-Forbes, Artistic Director said 'Colin Lane, John Wood and Nicki Wendt are joining Simon Gleeson, Alex Rathgeber, Lucy Maunder, Melissa Langton and Alinta Chidzey in this Kander & Ebb murder mystery musical comedy. Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) will celebrate its 10th Anniversary with exciting new programming and expanded international destinations, including Russia and Brazil. The 2016 Summer Tour, GENERAT10N, will visit cities across the U.S. and Canada when it kicks off in Atlanta, GA on May 31, 2016. In each location, the premier non-profit performing arts training program will present an incredible roster of Broadway directors, performers, and industry insiders who will offer highly personalized musical theatre training and mentoring through unique, week-long performing arts intensive workshops for students of all ages, skill levels, and socio- economic backgrounds.

Victorian Opera and Musica Viva present new chamber opera, Voyage to the Moon, starring celebrated Australian singers Emma Matthews and Sally-Anne Russell. 

JASPER JONES, a cracker play for any Australian, of any age*, and any creed, based on the novel by Craig Silvey and adapted by Kate Mulvany, will play Belvoir St Theatre, 2 January - 7 February 2016.

Following a national search, Melbourne Theatre Company is delighted to announce that Guy Simon has been cast in the title role of its much-anticipated stage adaptation of Jasper Jones.
