From time immemorial art has functioned as a means to convince us of the existence of something we can't see. The artist has the power to circumvent verbal communication and fix images in the brain which the mind tends to accept as reality. Since the 1960s there have been artists who used their work to confront environmental issues. Now, as the scientific evidence of climate change is corroborated by increased occurrence of extreme natural disasters in the form of hurricanes, volcanic activity, tidal waves and cyclones, artists are responding in their artwork with a heightened sense of urgency. “Seeing is Believing” is an exploration of the ways some artists have confronted this challenge in order to foster crucial changes in consciousness and in human behavior.

King's Head Theatre Artistic Director Adam Spreadbury-Maher announces the theatre's work for the first 6 months of 2015, including a new play directed by Mike Bradwell, and the 21st anniversary production of Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting, with a 9-actor Edinburgh cast, plus, the long awaited stage premiere of Richard O'Brien's Shock Treatment, the equal/sequel to his cult hit The Rocky Horror Show.

For the past two seasons, including the 20th Anniversary production in 2012, Profiles revisited Kern's landmark play for the holiday season. Both productions recevied extended runs and played for over three months. First produced as a late-night show by Famous Door Theatre in 1992, Hellcab was originally scheduled for twelve performances. It ended up running for over nine years, becoming one of the longest running shows in Chicago theatre history. Richard Cotovsky played the Driver for nearly 18 months including return engagements logging in well over two hundred performances to make him one of the longest performing actors to play the Driver during its premiere. Hellcab has been performed all over the U.S. and abroad, including Scotland, Israel, Singapore, and Ireland, winning numerous awards, including a Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival. Profiles Theatre announces that actor Richard Cotovsky returns to the role of the Driver in Profiles Theatre's holiday season revival of Hellcab by Will Kern. Directed by Profiles ensemble member Eric Burgher, a cast of 34 joins Cotovsky as the beleaguered cab driver, a role he played for over two hundred performances during the world premiere run. Profiles' production runs at The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway, tonight, November 7, 2014 - January 11, 2015 with the press opening on Thursday, November 13 at 8:00 pm.

Hailed by critics everywhere for its transcendent and deeply emotional performances, Noche Flamenca is one of the most authentic flamenco companies in the world today, and Soledad Barrio is its star. Now, in a unique creative partnership, this remarkable company joins with acclaimed American theater director Lee Breuer to create a new work, Antigona, based on Sophocles' ancient Greek heroine. Combining live music, song, and dance, Noche Flamenca's Antigona will bring the fiery, expressive nature of flamenco to one of the world's great tragedies in an evening-length work that promises to be both gripping and intensely moving. The work is conceived and directed by Martin Santangelo with choreography by Soledad Barrio, consulting direction by Lee Breuer, and visual and mask design by Mary Frank.
