Nonstop theater, a costume competition and ballroom dancing will bewitch the East Village in Theater for the New City's 37th annual Village Halloween Costume Ball on Thursday, October 31 at TNC, 155 First Avenue. This unique festival continues as a grand coming-together for everyday New Yorkers and artists alike. A carefree fall tradition, it celebrates the creativity that comes with the season.

Following its sold-out sneak preview July run, TOM JONES returns to TNC. Theater for the New City will present 'Tom Jones' - new musical adaption of Henry Fielding's novel, written and composed by John Taylor Thomas (Pride and Prejudice, Oh Pioneers, Return of the Native and the much lauded Platinum Taps).

THE LOWER EAST SIDE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS (LES) celebrates its 18th year of bringing together -- in one location, over three days -- more than 100 performing arts organizations, local and international celebrities, independent artists, poets, playwrights, musicians, puppeteers, film makers and many others, all of whom reside, work or have their roots in the culturally diverse Lower East Side. Once again this year, New York City's most diverse FREE 3-day, indoor and outdoor cultural celebration will take place on Memorial Day Weekend, from today, May 24 through Sunday, May 26, at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue, between E. 9th and 10th Sts.) in Manhattan.

SIREN'S HEART - Norma Jean & Marilyn in Purgatory, presented by Primal Scenes Productions, continues the seventh month of its open run in February, with one performance a week, Saturdays at 5pm. SIREN'S HEART, which opened on August 5, 2012, 50 years to the day that Marilyn Monroe died, is directed by Lissa Moira. This one-woman Off-Broadway play with music, written & composed by Walt Stepp, stars Louisa Bradshaw, with Gregory Nissen as Musical Director & Arranger & Don Garverick as Choreographer. Set is by David 'Zen' Mansley, Costumes by Ryan Matthieu Smith & Lighting by William Giraldo.

SIREN'S HEART - NORMA JEAN & MARILYN IN PURGATORY, now in its fifth month, opened on August 5, 2012, 50 years to the day that Marilyn Monroe died. If 'Adam's Rib' and 'Moneyball' mated and begat a play, it might be 'Skybox,' a comedy of class warfare and the battle of the sexes that is set in the luxury box of a major league baseball park. The play, written by Walt Stepp and directed by Lissa Moira, is the successor to their collaboration on 'Siren's Heart: Norma Jean and Marilyn in Purgatory,' a play by Stepp which started at Theater for the New City and is now running Off-Broadway at the Actors Temple Theatre. A one-week extension has been added for 'Skybox,' a new comedy by Walt Stepp and directed by Lissa Moira. The play's premiere run was originally scheduled for November 8 to December 2, 2012. After Hurricane Sandy struck, the opening was postponed to November 15 to accommodate production delays. Now the closing has been extended through December 9 to make up for lost performances. So the new production dates are November 15 to December 9 and critics are invited to all performances.

OBIE Award-winning actress Crystal Field is co-founder and Artistic Director of Theater for the New City.

Lucas Papaelias, of Broadway's ONCE is set to join the line up of the previously announced 17th annual LOWER EAST SIDE (LES) FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS. Papaelias is also known as LPfunK and is an actor/guitarist/composer who was nominated for a Drama Desk Award (Best Original Music in a Play) for his work in Adam Rapp's "Essential Self-Defense" at Playwrights Horizons. Most recently, he co-wrote the rock musical PYRAMIDICA: Songs of Freedom, which takes place live in a pyramid scheme company's "free" orientation, and was presented at the Vineyard Arts Project's New Writers / New Plays Festival. He also conceived of, and composed, the rock opera ITHACA: a Perpetual Shredfest, the story of a Lower East Side rock band performing their final concert, which had presentations at Joe's Pub and ARS Nova.
